Well, I just had a (sort of) interesting eBay experience.

I bid on, and won, some modern crap from a 3-year member of eBay with 100% feedback. After I paid, but before I received the coins, the guy gets NARU'd.

I emailed him and asked him what's going on, and he replies within 15 minutes and tells me that he works in a hospital with over 1000 employees, and a fellow employee has bid on, and won, items from him in the past. Ebay wants it stopped due to the smell of shill bidding. He says no, and tells them to stick it. They NARU him.

He shipped my coins priority mail, I received them, and everything is again hunky-dory in the world. It was only $115, but I gotta be honest that I was a little nervous for a minute there, since he got NARU'd after receiving payment but before I received my coins.

I think ebay is making a mistake terminating him, especially with all the leeches on there these days.

BTW, his user name is chubberchub if you're curious.

I have done alot of business with Chubberchub. He has a registry set of IHCs at NGC.

He is a stand up guy and I would have no reservations dealing with him again.

File this under "No good deed will go unpunished"

I don't understand eBay pitching a fit with a decent seller and turning a deaf ear to the crap out there.

I have also done business with chubberchub in the past and have never had a problem.
If I recall correctly, a certain madman had a similar experience with someone making bids from his lap top which got him put on the suspension list for a week or so. Ebay takes their shilling enforcement very seriously. Or at least it appears that way!

So many scammers out there, and someone with a feedback score near 1500 and no negs whatsoever gets NARU'd.

That eBay. Ya gotta love it.

I've bought from chubberchub too. A decent seller on ebay. I just got an email from him as a previous customer of his saying ebay has shut him down. He has reopened operations on yahoo. Too bad. ebay needs to do more about the REAL CROOKS and let the good sellers do their business.

OTOH, if you have won and paid for an auction from a ebay member who is NARU'ed during your transaction, you are UP THE CREEK. I lost $95 on a auction for a home version of Microsoft XP. Ebay, Paypal, Square Trade and anyone else, turned a deaf ear. The bastiges!!image

Amazing coincidence. When I started reading, I decided I would pm you and ask if it was chubberchub, then you said it was. I saw something 2 nights ago, went back last night to pull the trigger, and saw the naru, thought WTF? Top notch seller, figured it must be a mistake. Thanks for the info, hope he's back soon.

A couple of months ago I sold someone who was NARU'd immediately after. Then they were un-NARU'd. Then they were NARU'd again. Their status went back and forth maybe a half-dozen times over several days. It was weird.

I decided that NARUs of long-time members with high feedback rating are as likely as not to be flukes as anything else.

I think in this instance it's more poor judgment on ebay's part than a fluke.

He notified me when he shipped the coins. He responded to my concern about his NARU in 15 minutes. He packaged everything satisfactorily.

Overall, his communication and the way he conducted himself were outstanding. As a buyer, what else could you ask for?
