Even though I own NGC Coins My vote was "NO". PCGS started the Registry thingy with thier coins and thats how it should stay. NGC was a Follower and had to do something Different to make thier Registries Work. It would be nice if PCGS let NGC Coins in but just imagine what the Backlash would be from Collectors that have Built Sets of only PCGS Coins.

They'd need to add a deduction table based on the coin and grading standards.... let's see, .5 for Morgans, all MS70 & PR70 are lowered by .9, etc@!

I belive that a set should be allowed a certain % of NGC coins. something like 15%. an other question, Should PCGS crossover other slabs for free for registry sets?

I would say no.... but I would support a 10% to 15% limit for NGC coins. Would make completing the sets alot easier! My major problem is FINDING the right PCGS coins.

Yes - at a point lower if PCGS decides not to cross it. There are some coins out there virtually impossible to find in PCGS holders. A dealer is not going to take a downgrade on any coin - it costs them too much money - therefore there will always be some rare dates in NGC holders that did not cross. If NGC were allowed on the Registry at one point lower, there would still be an incentive to try and cross the coin to PCGS, but there would no longer be such a disincentive to participate in the PCGS Registry. Eventually, I see some collectors getting frustrated because they can't find dates in PCGS holders and throwing their hands up in disgust. Then they walk over "across the street" and put their set on NGC's registry where they don't have that hassle.

        Is there an alternative here?

Perhaps for registry purposes, credit can be given for a certain percentage of NGC coins, but the grade wouldn't be counted or weighted in any way. Sort of like taking a class Pass/Fail in college.

Seeing that there are more coins in the 70 grades in NGC holders, it wouldn't be fair to the just PCGS collectors.

After selling a bunch of NGC Walkers and replacing them with
PCGS ones (at some expense), I would seriously consider
legal action if they decided to accept NGC coins.

I agree with TDN. A modest penalty for un-crossed coins would seem fair.

Can I Change My Vote?? Just Realized My Set would be 95% complete if NGC Coins were Allowed.
Hell Yes put NGC Coins in and Ruin the Integerety(sp) of the PCGS Registries.
            Answer is Still "NO".

there you all go again!! thinking pcgs is the bomb. man get a grip and don't buy the holder.my ngc sets are as nice as anyone's. yes I can't register them here but they will kick anyone"s sets arse.

again I only collect lincoln's and seated coinage so the lincolns are the one's i'm talking about.
man are you guys waisting money and your hard work.
at some point I will gain $ by buying these coins.
ok I know I have some really good pcgs coins but they were in the holder and I got them for a good price. you do realize that for years everyone has cracked out any nice coin and sent it in to pcgs to get graded. it dosen't matter what holder it was in . pcgs has always set the standard. and now the down side. because of there grade gauranty they always under grade. or grade right up to the limit. so when will the dealers start cracking them out to send to ngc to see if they can make some money. probbably never. as from what I can see there very close. so just sit there and do nothing and you'll lose out on some really nice coins. or maybe it's time to look for some nice ngc coins to hold on to .

            No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the grades were equal then dealers would pay the same amount for the coins sight unseen. As long as PCGS coins command a premium for both the bid and the ask prices, then keep it PCGS only!

mansco: The Blue Sheet is the WORST THING ever to hit the Hobby for a Collector. Dealers would like to Make you believe what is Posted in the Sheet to get your Coins for little to nothing. Then they just turn around and Sell for Prices that are very comparable. If you do not believe this just check some Web Sites where the Dealer Buys and Sells both PCGS and NGC Coins. Pull out your Good Old Blue Sheet and you Might Be Enlightened.
If you want to take it one step farther just offer some Coins to some of these Guys and see what Happens.
Sorry to Comment about this on a Poll Thread but your statement just struck a Nerve after going through a experience concerning Blue Sheet Crap with a Well Known National Dealer.
Like a Couple of other People have said I also have some NGC Coins that would Knock the Socks Off thier PCGS Counter Parts.
With this in Mind I still say NO. Not because the Grades are different but because PCGS started the Registries with only thier coins and that's how it should stay.

I have to agree with Ken. The blue sheet is crap. And the PCGS/NGC thing is crap. I have seen good and bad coins in all of the holders. There is no way a 1945-S in MS66FB should be worth 200 in PCGS and only 50 in NGC if both coins are graded correctly. BUY THE COIN _ NOT THE HOLDER. I had better stop before I really get PO'ed.

Right on Ken. Sorry you won't be at CS. I did some time at Ft. Lewis about the same time period.

I also have many nice NGC coins, but if I decide to register them it'll be in the NGC set. IMO, PCGS should stick to it's own coins.

Prediction - as collectors experience first hand the hassles of finding PCGS key dates and/or getting coins in their collections crossed, the PCGS Registry will wither down to just those sets that have large populations of coins available.

Think about it - when dealing with coins like bust dollars, seated dollars, rare gold, etc - there simply aren't dozens of coins out there for each grade exclusively in PCGS holders. This will be a real impediment to continued enjoyment of the PCGS Registry. When NGC gets these sets up, eventually participation will move away from PCGS's Registry to NGC's because of the inclusivity of that Registry. It's simply more fun to be more complete with less hassles!

I agree that a lot of NGC coins are not up to PCGS grading standards and think that if they were included at a grade discount up to a certain percentage of the collection it would be a wise move on PCGS's part.

Braddick's post has changed my mind on the whole idea
so I want to change my vote.

Just the other week I went out for lunch and got McDonald's
fries with a Burger King Whopper. Of course the reverse is just
                      gross (BK fries).

Lazeroo you have a great set.... but PCGS is harder on Lincolns that NGC. I had 10 NGC MS-67 Lincolns that I tried to cross to PCGS.... "0" Crossed! I was pissed! So I cracked them out and resubmitted raw............ all of them came back MS-66! Everyone of them! That is why PCGS Lincolns go for more $$$.

PCGS should stay PCGS. The rules have been this way since the beginning and the collections have been built with this in mind. If there is a limited number of a certain coin graded by PCGS then more will have to be "made" or in the case of the classics there will be fewer registry sets. Not everyone can have the #1 set. I have a PCGS set with a few holes in it and a NGC/PCGS that I only need to submit my recent purchases to make it complete. I'm proud of both. I don't want you to make a deduction just because my coin is in a NGC holder. Some would be a proof 69 in either slab (some wouldn't). You can't make my 69 a 68 just because we've arm-twisted PCGS into accepting something outside their circle and the downgrade is the cure.

I would rather not count my NGC 69 in the PCGS set if it is not considered "worthy" of a 69. I can continue to look for that pesky PCGS, I can cross my best NGC examples, or I can do nothing and enjoy both sets as they are.

                      This just MHO.

The shame of these regsitry sets...is that people are buying coins for the holders and bragging rights and are not looking at the coins....what difference does it really make what holder your coin is in....its the coin!!!!
