I sure hope I read this auction right.....**Update...It arrived today.**
if not, I will be very upset with myself. I even had my wife read it to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
Nobody bid on this so I probably did something wrong. I'm putting together a set of Kennedy proofs and I thought this would go nicely with it. Please someone tell me I did it right even if I messed up.

I looked more closely...he hasnt sold a slabbed coin since Jan 10th...though this DOES indeed seem to be in a PCGS slab....Though his feedback is pretty darn good, something doesnt seem kosher here....correct me if I am wrong, and I hope I am, but I can see the potential here for ANOTHER can of worms being open...geez, so many cans being opened...anyone want to go fishing???

Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
I checked his feedback and read several pages looking for anything out of the ordinary. I also notice he sells a lot of ICG slabs so I was thinking people just thought this was another one of those.
I've been watching it since he listed it and could not believe nobody bid on it. I'm thinking he just didn't do his title description right but I am also thinking that thing will arrive in an ICG holder too.
Not seeing the PCGS label on the holder, I still have my reservations.
Round up the coin posse and have them on standby.

I did something just like it and a coin that recently I sold for $153. sold for $5.50 about a month or so ago (I had duplicates) because I forgot to list NGC in the auction title.

You mean like that cameo SMS Lincoln you ripped from Heritage?

<< <i>I'll keep my fingers crossed for you....but you know the old saying: if is looks to good to be true..............
I ran that through my head a lot and decided to take shot at it. He does have a full refund return policy so if it is too good to be true...I'll just paint up the holder and sell it to Russ.
<< <i>C'mon now, Russ...you were supposed to forget about that by now! >>
I never forget the excellent rips.

<< <i>Interco is a legit shop in Dothan, AL. He was selling coins before there were PCs, PCGS, eBay, Internet, etc. (and possibly even before there were JFKs).

Well that is good to know. Thanks for the info.

<< <i>I did not read what grading company did it ,BUT.....I HAVE 3 PR70 KENNEDYS all are DCAM * SGS* I PAYED LESS THAN $5.00 EACH, I hope it was pcgs or ngc ,let us know. >>
The auction states it is a PCGS PR70DCAM.
I will update this thread when and if I receive it as advertised.
That's what it say's in the body..................................
Time will tell when it is delivered...................
<< <i>So, the picture looks like crud, which leads me to ask: if the coin arrives and it's not a "real" 70, then what will you do? >>
Sell it on eBay and state in the auction that it's a dog. It won't matter, it would still bring four times what he paid. The bidders will believe PCGS and think the seller is full of crap.

I wanted to ask a question though.....How should I respond if he emails me and tells me it was a listing mistake and he meant to put $559.95 and he refuses my payment?
****
I'm not one to punish a seller or kick him when he is down but this was a legit auction without a BIN that ran the length of 7 days and nobody bid on it. I see some other coins in his store that has some awful high starting prices and I am thinking he might have messed up on this one and entered the wrong amount.
The deal with the FairTraderz (I never responded on that thread but read the whole thing)has really affected me and when I see a coin that I really like and click on it and see that they(FairTraderz) is the seller, I stopped right then and don't even entertain the thought of even looking futher. I have a mental block now about them. (This really doesn't have any bearing on the topic at hand but I thought I would just mention that.)
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
You paid ....Just wait.............
<< <i>I guess the pressure is getting to you ????Wait it out and see....Bite your nails if you have to...........

OK...I have finished with my fingers but can't quite get my toes to my mouth.
Thanks fivecents. That makes me feel better.

<< <i>Herbert Harr owner of Interco is my friend and he will send you the coin. He is one of the good guys.
I received a positive feedback from him today so that is one hurdle cleared.
Must be in an older holder (although it looks like the current ones) because the series and coin numbers are not present
but everything checked out after I ran the numbers through PCGS number verification. The holder is pretty scratched up
and makes it difficult to see the real beauty of it but I am happy.
Can you get coins reslabbed without going through the grading process? (I have no idea because I have never done it.)
<< <i>Can you get coins reslabbed without going through the grading process? >>
Yes, for a $20 fee.

A better example of a nice purchase, MadMarty finding a cool set at a Pawn Shop--that Pawn paid someone on the cheap to buy it, he sold it for probably double or triple to MadMarty. He is happy, MadMarty is happy, heck, the original seller is happy. They all got what they wanted.
This deal was an opportunity to see who would do the honorable thing. And now we have the answer to your question, of would you get the coin which was obviously underpriced. I bet you could make a friend for life by offering a negotiated price, and maybe its good to have a dealer for a friend....
I wonder if Im going to get hate mail--Im justa poor slob who wants both sides in a deal pleased with the outcome.

<< <i>So the dealer/seller made good on delivery, even when it was totally bad for him. I would say he deserves a round of applause. A savings of 90% for the buyer due to a poor listing title or stars out of alignment. Hard to say if anyone really won, Somebody was going to lose--and know it.

MadMarty's find was quite a unique opportunity for him and the pictures he posted of those coins were super. I need to check out pawn shops more often.
The coin I received had a little sticker on the back of the holder that had $100 marked on it. I don't think I would have argued if he had asked me for difference. I am still pleasantly pleased with what I received though.
