<< <i>Since I dont feel like rumaging thru old redbooks Im guessing every one of them except the 1877 Indian cent. Just baseing my guess on all morgans being pocket change in 1956 but who knows what a 93 S was worth back when I was born. Im guessing the only coin in the bunch you have listed that had real collector value in 56 was the 77 Indian.

Hey - if they were THAT cheap my dad would have given me everyone of them - there are some surprising answers - Do I need to add a "Prize"? (I could probably come up with a 1956 year set for whoever gets the most right).

1892-CC Morgan Dollar
The 1903-O Morgan dollar was a very pricey coin back then. In fact, it was the most expensive business strike Morgan dollar.

Well - you got 3 correct answers - actually there were 2 coins tied for the most expensive - you got 1 of them so you get 2 1/2 point - Lets see - that ought to be worth about 1 1956 nickel
The 56 Redbook says that the 1903-O was worth $300 in Unc in 1956 - a bag of those coins was bought from the Treasury Dept (or one of the FRBs) in the mid-60's for face value (1000 coins for $1000) and started the great silver dollar run on the Treasury reserves of Silver Dollars. The 1884-S in Unc could be purcahsed for $20 and the 1892-CC for $8 - If your grandfather gave you one of those when you were born, it'd be a good start for a retirment (especially the 84-S - as a GEM Unc is worth a lot today) - there's a few other surprises in that group

My guess is the 1903-O Morgan would be the highest and the 1936-D Washington the lowest.

1903-O Morgan?
As to the questions at hand I have absolutely no idea. I would guess nobody cared about 3 legged Buffaloes back then so my, totally uneducated, guess is that the 3 legged Buffalo is the cheapest of the bunch...
As for the extra credit I will say that the 1909-S VDB was the most expensive and the 1926-S Lincoln would have been the cheapest.

Is grandfather clause St. Nic's grandpappy?
<< <i>I'll take a Pittman-esqu WAG and say either the 1808 Bust half Unc., or the 1926-S Lincoln. >>
Hmmm - Cheapest? Most expensive or under $20??
