Really cool coin locket - ever seen one like it??

An employee of mine showed this to me recently. Looks to have been made by a watch maker. The coin holder is spring loaded and accomodates 3 coins.

Not for sale, I'm afraid. Came from New Zealand originally and was her grandmothers.

You'll see these listed as "sovereign cases" in auctions. Check out eBay, for example.

Those are very cool. Wish they held more than a couple of coins. You certainly couldn't use it today and actually have any value with it. It would be kind of cool to have a gold coin with you, like a circulated $5 piece. But I wouldn't generally want to keep a few hundred bucks in my pocket.

Neat stuff. The US 1/4 oz bullion would fit inside these Sovereign cases, same 22 mm diameter. Sounds like a fun thing to have.
