1921-d WLH F-15 or Vf-20 ?? Thanks folks!

Here is a pic of a 21-d I got in a consignment group. Do you feel thier is enough there to merit vf-20? IMHO its a nice 15. The owner and I are in disagreement?

Thanks for all the input and as I thought, the forum was in agreement with my opinion. I beleive I have convinced him to submit it before selling.

I would think you would need more of a line under the left breast for a VF-20 grade. Beautiful coin either way.

I think most would call this a VF20 as it is an early date WLH. I would lean more towards a high end Fine coin. The toning is fantastic and it is a beautiful coin nonetheless.

What difference does the grade make? Call it a good and put a price on it. How much is it?

It makes a difference when I list cosigned coins for sale on e-bay. I dont list coins at cosignors grades unless I feel that they merit it. Its a very nice coin and totally original but IMO a F-15. The cosignor wants it listed at vf-20 becuase of the price spread, and I refused to list it as a vf-20. Instead of pi$$ing him off and losing out on a 5k consignment deal, I told him I would get a consensus opinion which he agreed too. The price will bring what it brings but it has to do with my listing policy. for example, I have another cosignor who wants me to list a bunch of his stuff, but he has lots of NTC crap, which I wont list under no circumstance.

Considering that it is the key date for the series. It is worth the expense and the final sale price will probably reflect it. Get it into PCGS plastic unless the small pictures are hiding and old cleaning that we can't see.

For all that coin has going for it, vf/20 isn't out of the question, at all.

Sharp coin.

Same detail and some hairlines etc, and I'd be a bit more hesitant.

I can understand your hesitation with it, but it does look good.

That said, why not ship it to ANACS real quick and get it certified? They could get that coin back to you within a week for $50, which could make a lot of difference on a coin like this. 5 days would be half that cost.

If in doubt it should always go to the lower grade. F15.

That is so borderline, it could go either way. I agree with the opinion that it should be put in a PCGS holder. That piece is nice enough that even if it does come back as a 15, I'll bet it would fetch 20 money at any major auction.

I just got this one back a month or so ago. I believe the one you're talking about would be in this grade range. It's a nice coin, but not VF..........Hope this helps..........Rick

edited to say, not enough feathers on the eagles right lag and right wing to qulify for VF.....Also loss of detail on the left breast brings it into the 'F' range

Edited again..........Mine is a 21S..........

In my opinion that coin is not a VF, regardless of what a TPG might grade it.
