If it was trout season and I was fishing in Vermont and the weather precluded trout fishing, I would definitely be there.

Since I live in CA, shopping in VT is a tough one!
  • I drove through Rutland on the way to go skiing once. Man, it was cold enough there to freeze off your Frankies! I wouldn't want to leave the house in the winter just to go to a coin store!

  • Too far for me, I haven't even been to VT yet.
But if I found a way to get up by there, I'd probably drop in.
Humm...be my luck you'd be closed that day.image

There already is a coin shop in Rutland, and a darn good one, too. R. J. (Cookie) Audet has done business in Rutland and in Barre/Montpelier for many years (Green Mountain Coin), and is extremely well liked. My guess is it would be extremely difficult to operate another coin shop in Rutland, competing with someone who is so well entrenched in the business, and so well liked. How about another town, or perhaps another state? I'm in Maine, and we could surely use a good coin shop.

I'd want to go. Realistically though, there's little to zero chance I'd ever make it.

Well, you better be ready to go when I get there, I'm not waiting for you to shave or do your hair or something.

I'd go if someone would pay for the trip. However, it may not be to far. Where is Vermont? Is that another suburb of Chicago?

    No Way.

2836.2 miles and when you get back east you have to pay to drive on the roads. The last time I paid back there the roads had craters that damn near swallowed my car. I graded the toll roads at PO1. That was in 1969 so now maybe the roads are gravel.

This is kind of a moot point, isn't it? The board member in question isn't opening the store to attract us - he has the internet for that. You would have to go stand on a street corner in Rutland and canvass random passers-by if you want a real gauge of the potential of the venture.

    Must have missed this thread!

    I would sure go.

Cookie hasn't had a shop in Rutland in at least ten years.

I can get cold here (though it didn't this winter). 75 degrees here right now.

Hour and a half. See you at the Albany Coin Show!

I would not open the store exclusively to attract national customers, but I would sure welcome the business.

Someday... I mean, I'd never do that! I was hoping to make it to the Albany show this Sunday. Unfortunately the weekend is looking too busy.

You're not alone! The same member called me "cookie". I just realized that was the dealer mentioned in this thread. I'm confused. I need more coffee.

Not real sure what this means either.
