Coin Prices

Hey Gang,...where do you all go to keep track of current Coin prices.
I want to see what the going prices are for things like State Quarter Rolls,USMC coins,Nickles rolls, stuff like that.
I look at the posts here of people selling items on this site but dont know if they are higher or lower.I have most of the time assumed they are lower because most here know the true costs.
Opportunities are disguised by hard work,so most people dont recognize them.

    And, well worth it.

I find the Heritage site to be number one. Their procedures are a little goofy (i.e. multiple invoices on paid items) but the ability to do actual research on realized prices and the photo's are priceless IMO.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Just like the others said, various auctions. Also I get a few magazines that have prices in them (bi-monthly I think) and use those when I'm at a show or something, Redbook included.

In the end it comes down to whether or not you feel the price is right. Sure I've overpaid on coins compared to the magazines, books, and websites. In my mind it was a deal and since then the price in the books, etc has gone above what I paid. Books and such cannot factor in if the coin has fantastic colors or eye appeal, that will certainly raise the price.

  • Also trying to find out all the facts about what State Quarters may be more valuable than others. Some have flaws of some sort or another and heard a story about the Wisconsin quarters and a mint delivery truck catching fire with a chitload of 'em onboard and being wiped out.
    Any truth to that story?

The Wisconsin "extra leaf" quarters (there are two types - high and low) are well documented and the search feature here should get you up to speed. The truck crash is a factual story but absolutely had no impact on rarity.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
