VAMMERS- WHERE IS A PRICING GUIDE TO VIEW

I do have a 'few' Vam Morgans in my stash, graded without the Vam cert on the holder, but before I ship off to have said coins Vamm'd, I would like to be sure that it is somewhat cost conducive to do so. These Morgies for the most part are now dupes within my holdings, and eventually will put them out for offer, but finding a value is not easy- I know I have seen vammsanmore's listings on the flea but that is not realistic for pricing.

So where can I research a equitable guide on Vam pricing?

Some are in the 100 some are in the hot 50- so assitance is much appreciated.

Fey's quarterly newsletter gives Top 100 prices. DennisH's eletronic quarterly newsletter seems to ive more comprehensive pricing. But both are just records of recent sales of VAMs. I don't know of any other pricing information other that these and scouring the auction sites one's self for realized prices.

You would think that Vamming seems to be running hot now that PCGS is slabbing them- It would be helpful to the collector and or seller to have a general idea as to value of them.

I know the old adage- if you like it then you pay for it- but it helps in adjusting some of these figures because folks have a tendency to overprice what they have, thus not making that so called margin.

I think Vammers nedd to come up with a reasonable pricing guide for folks to utilize.

There's also a price guide in my Top 100 Attribution Wizard that is up to date as of January. The Hot 50 pricing I have is old. What are the varieties you have? Keep in mind that unlike grades, VAM numbers are not subjective, so even if a PCGS label doesn't say VAM xyz, it can still be obvious that the coin is, in fact, VAM xyz.

As far as keeping values up to date, that's a rather daunting task. I nag Jeff Oxman now and then to update the values for our software, and he says it can take him days to come up with updates for just one of our applications. There is a lot of research that has to happen to be able to proclaim a value (or as Jeff does, a ballpark value) for a specific coin in a specific grade. As collection and sales of VAMs is picking up, there will be more data available for doing this, but compared with the market for non-variety coins, the VAM market is rather thin at the moment. In addition to Fey's Insights and VAMView, you could search Teletrade or Heritage auctions for Top 100 varieties and probably come up with some hits.

messy- I have an 89 P ms64 PCGS Vam 16 'doubled ear' the doubling is solid- the slab was not labeled as such- but I've been told this is a Hot 50, so where would I get a ballpark figure- value without the attribute is $90.+/- a buck, with it cert'd as such- and rarity in grade? What 200-400, 1,gazillion? This is what I'm refering to. do you take a base price on the coin first and say ok this coin in 64 is $yy., and with attribution it should be YY x 3(rarity factor) thus being a $Z,ZZ.

I'm only lookin for fairness- not thievery.

It's most likely in the $200 range.

An ANACS-64 sold in May on eBay for $200. A raw-64 sold in June on eBay for $42.
    When in doubt, don't.
