Check out this company's grading!

They think they are very "fair, accurate, and worthy"..... I don't think so...

  • That's funny.

I recently went into a coin shop in my town since I've started the collecting engines up and asked about what he did for grading/slabbing. He threw out some random TPG I've not heard of and said, "It's the only one I use, because I agree with their grades."

Being a self proclaimed newby even I knew this spelled disaster. Swiftly made my exit in a courteous manor and returned to the boards for some heavy sarcasm and education.

Plastics and slabbing machines must be cheap, I can't believe how many cheesy grading services have started in the last few years.image

Hey, do you know what scale they use? They could very well be leading the industry into the 100 point grading scale! image

boy, wow, I'm at a loss. Look at the grade on that slab. Woweeee could they be any more blatant?
  • The truth of the matter, folks, is that we've all actually seen much worse. At least this coin appears to live in the same neighborhood as UNC, and the images make it appear to have some proof like qualities. Don't get me wrong, I'm not even remotely considering bidding on this dog, I'm just saying that in the past I've seen dipped out, scratched up VFs passed off as gem in third world slabs.

Does anybody actually buy these coins and keep them long term in those holders?

Is it profitable for dealers to deal with these companies? It must be.....

    Ok, this one just hurts...

But where else are you going to get a Grant with star half dollar MS66 for under a grand? image

image...There's always time for coin collecting. image
  • That coin in the picture definitely does not look like an MS65! It shows that this new grading company isn't up to the standards as PCGS or NGC.
