I think you bid on a 3-coin set. Does TT think something different?
    When in doubt, don't.

It appears to me that you bid on a P, D, ans S mint Franklin Half Dollar set.

Are they saying you won only one coin?

It is obvious a 3 coin set was bid on as the title of there auction indicates.
If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?
  • My first impression by the title is that you bid on 3 coins all 64FBL. Then I clicked on "Standard" image. Normally when there are multiple coins in a Teletrade auction they are all imaged in the "Standard" view. My second impression (since they weren't all imaged) was that Teletrade made a mistake in the title line and I wouldn't have bid before clarifying how many coins I was bidding on.

There is an apparent inconsistency/conflict in the listing between the " PDS Set" mentioned in the title, vs. the 1954 P mint imaged individually. I think it's just as likely that it was meant to be a one coin lot, as that it was a three coin lot. And, the "Also now available from Teletrade" which lists only 1954 P mints, is further evidence of that. I would have inquired and asked for a clarification before bidding.

Did you call TT, and ask them to clarify? If it turns out what they intended to list for bidding was different than what reasonable people may have thought they were bidding on, they may offer a satisfactory resolution, if given the opportunity. I've found them to usually resolve this types of issues quickly and reasonable when brought to their attention.

I bid on that lot and was listed as high bidder at a higher dollar amount ??????- I remeber seeing it closed at 280???

I bid based on the description of a PDS set.

there have been other TT auctions that were sets where there were only one picture.

    Correction-

I bid on a similarly title lot in auction 2163 which hammered at $280 was for 1954 MS-65FBL PDS Set

Link to 2163 auction for 1954 65 FBL PDS set

Could they make the same mistake 2 days in a row?

My bet is there is also some stipulation in the user agreement that protects Teletrade in a case such as this image

So I assume they only sent you one coin.

I was the under bidder, But I am sure eveyone who bid in the last few minutes like I did expected a SET of PDS, and didn't want to tip other bidders of to the listing issue..

I am sure I have seen other auctions where the description was fro multiple coins, and only one was picyured.

  • If you won it you are getting ONE coin !

    Just like i did !

  • My guess is that if you were to look through their history of sales for actual three-coin PDS sets, you
will find that this coin was sold as part of such a set at some point in the past. When the owner later
sent this coin back through the system to be auctioned individually, Teletrade scanned the slab's bar
code and their system recognized the coin from the prior sale, recalling the previously used title/description
to be used as the default for the new auction, and the cataloger failed to fix the title.

    Or I could be wrong.

But I have good reason to think I'm right.

In any case, you should be made whole for the listing in error.

I have no doubt about that. He may not get the coins, but he should get a full refund plus two-way shipping.

  • Newsflash!

I just received an email from A.R. stating the following:

"i bid on teletrade auction 2163 lot 1617 & i got 3 coins. would have responded to the forum but not a member."

This is the auction that Heywood linked, so apparently some multi coin sets are indeed sold with a single image!

Obviously, 100proof1957's was in error somewhere along the way - I'm sure it will get worked out.

    I got that, too.

Now I am pissed I didn't win it!

( I hope the other 2 MS 65 FBLs looked better than the one pictured)

Sounds like they know it was their mistake, and given that, I'm sure Irma will make it good.
