I must hand it to stman*. I never quite understood the quote until the recent Peace dollar saga. Unless you really know from where the coin originated, you really do not know. I am stunned that serious players with serious money got snookered on the "monster" toned Peace dollar. Part of their undoing is trusting someone (unidentified, of course) who claimed that the coin resided in the same envelope for fifty years. It appears that the best and most interesting stories are the ones that never get told. If only the Peace dollar could talk!
*stman was also one of the few who id'ed the coin as suspect from the photos. He previously alone recognized a Peace dollar that I had purchased on ebay as AT and gave me the serial number, all on the basis of a single photo that I posted here. Ignore this man at your own peril.
