OK - What are the rules for posting in the BST???

claychaserclaychaser Posts: 4,406 ✭✭✭✭
Here is a question from a newbie to boards: Where can I find the rules for posting on the BST Forum?

If I have an old BST post, do I need to delete it before making a new one for different stuff? Is there a right and a wrong way to do this?

Is it correct that one TTT (to the top) is allowed per day?

    One TTT per day.

One active thread at a time. If you had an old thread, you can start a new one.

If your items are on ebay, put "ebay" in the thread title.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

That one isn't really a rule, although it would be nice if board members put that or "EB","FA"(for auction) in their title out of courtesy for board members.

Timely thread, as I had a question come up last night. Would it be acceptible to run two posts at once on the BST, if one contained only items for sale on the board only, and the other contained only links to eBay auctions? I know there are some people there who only click on one type of link or the other (FSH vs FA) and I thought that might be a way to speak to both groups without irritating either.... unless the multiple posts end up irritating everyone.

No, one active thread per member. Put FSH/FA or FSH plus Ebay in the title and list them all. Some posts have dozens of items for sale. Posts slide off the first page every few hours, so more than one active thread is just plain rude, and against the guidelines. As is more than one TTT per day. Multiple posts DO irritate just about everyone.

Also rude, is posting pics here asking for grading opinions and then the next day posting the coins on BST. In my opinion, this kind of stuff is close to spamming but the moderators have too many posts to keep up with and let it slide.
