  i think 2.5 does it well. covers any coin's diameter out there

  These magnifiers are not suitable for coins. They are intended for flat surfaces such as photographs and printed documents. Since they are prefocused, you need to lay the magnifier against the object that you are looking at. They may be good for examining paper money and stamps.

  I lay it right on my holders and I think its great because it allows me to see the whole coin at once. To each his own

  I agree ... I've had a couple for years they are relegated to paper weights now.

  They work fine for slabbed coins.

  I would expect them to magnify te enire coin, but I would also expect MASSIVE spherical distortion.
