It looks MS-65Red to me. Color is very hard to decern from a picture.

Nice coin, assuming original.

If that stuff at 12:00 on the obverse rim isn't on the coin...probably at least 64RB, possibly as fine as 65RD.

Nice strike, can't tell from the photos the color and too much spotting to go 65, so looks 64 r/b from those photos.

I'd go 65, but the reverse has that tinge of shading that will keep it RB, IMO.

Excellent coin ! From the pictures it has super luster. Oh yeah, and what ziggy said about 12o'clock ...please tell me it is not solder

It does appear to be an excellent strike. And assuming that something didn't melt onto the top edge,
I'd have to go the full MS65 - the spottiness is not that dramatic (But geeeze the pic's are small ... )

MS 65 RD. Nice coin. Well struck. Very nice luster. All in all a very nice coin to my eyes...Mike

64 red. The stuff at obverse 12:00 is just plastic overhang from the holder.

Thanks for all the input! Everybody here is almost right on the money. It is MS-64 RED in an old 10-digit Green PCI Holder, which is why I think many of you saw a 65 due to the rather conservative grading. Does anybody think this a good candidate for a crack-out upgrade to 65? Also, does anybody have an opinion as to it's street value if I sold it to another forum member, ebay, etc.?

I would not crack that coin out.

Do NOT crack it out. I'm a huge buyer and fan of Green, 10 digit PCI holders but I've been spanked by PCGS on several IHC's cracked out of these holders. If you are not a IHC expert recolored/altered coins can be very tough to determine and several got by the Old PCI graders as I can attest to. Do a crossover if you submit it! Just my opinion based on facts! Chris

Just leave it like it is. It is a nice coin but not a spectacular one.

Before I saw your post I believed it to be an MS64 RB, mostly the spot below the E in AMERICA kept it from 65. I wouldn't crack it out - I don't think I'd expect to get a 65 'cause of the spot, and I also think you stand the chance of losing the R and would go to RB. Not worth the downside.

I also have a 1923 Lincoln certified MS-65 RED in an old PCI ten-digit holder that I was thinking of selling or crossing over as well. I want to clear out some stuff so I can buy on of the new gold Buffalo bullion coins when they come out. My only problem is that alot of Ebay folks think ANYTHING is bad in a PCI holder and I won't get even close to market value for these

Is there any place to sell these without losing my shirt? I don't expect fair market value but would like to get as close as possible. Suggestions?

Unless it is in PCGS plastic it will be discounted. It's just the way the market is today.
