A 'Accented Hair' question for the Russ/MM experts.

I'm trying to differentiate the 2, what should I look for on the Proof 1964 JFK's?

I have 6 sets in cello- 4 unopened, and I am gonna open em.

Russ- I viewed your pics last night- but need a pointer as to what to look for- so O mystic Ferengi and sir MM- a leetle hep will do me good.

Russ's info is the most complete I have seen.

When looking thru sets to cherrypick, it is easiest to look for the truncated I in LIBERTY. I've probably found about 20 sets over the last 4 or 5 years.

  • Jayboxx- thanks I read it entirely- now I need to 'chat' with the ferengi and the madman

I gots 3 at the moment- this is nutzo, 2 days ago I get a sweet 1878 7tf r78 comin in at a 65, and today I find 3 AH's! I'm gonna cry if I can make em a 67 or 68 DCAM, they are frostie as well- just needs to figure what cuts the difference between cam /dcam.

  • I sometimes have trouble spotting the wishbone, so I usually go to the Bottom Left Serif of I in LIBERTY... though Russ says that doesn't always work, as some are not missing the serif, or the serif isn't as weak, or some Ferengi non-sense such as that image

  • I really wish to God- I could take close up picks- the serif in I is that of the AH, the rays on the reverse are broken- there are no contact marks at all both sides, the hair shows the Y cleanly- dammmmit. who wants to come over to my house and photo my frigging Kennedies?

    Now I'm nervous.

Morganhunter - give 'em a quick dip in a weak dilluted ez-est solution and then rinse, then dip in acetone and air dry. This will neutralize the surfaces so as to prevent milk spotting in the future. You just got 'em out of the mint packaging, and they have been known to spot after being freed from their celophane packaging.

Secondly, if you would like the coins photographed I can do it for you unless you're going to PCGS in which case you might just want to spring for the True View service.
