  Yes, Registered is the best/safest way to ship a coin to France.

  Registered is definitely safest. Depending on the coin's value, a Global Priority Mail small flat rate pack (no insurance available) at $5.25 may be an economical option.

  The maximum insurance for Registered is $44.86.
  
  If it's an expensive coin, I'd ship Air Parcel Post with (real) Insurance.

  Registered, but be aware of the insurance limitation and inform the buyer that the risk is his whether the coin is fully insured or not. I don't believe that international air parcel post can be used for coins per most countries postal regulations.

  I sent a coin book to Kuwait last Dec. Sent it the cheapest way I could and it still cost about $25
  and that was with no ins. Took about 3 weeks to get there but was received by a very happy YN.

  Do not be lulled into thinking that registered and insured provide the same measure of security once outside of the USPS. If the coin is not high value, use global priority. Additional coverage is a waste of money. If it is high value, and you cannot afford to lose it, don't ship it.

  Instead of bubble wrap, use a white flag. Should the package become opened, it will still be handled with care and respect once the French discover the white flag within.

  I just sent a coin to Germany. Send it registered but I add for a couple bucks signature confirmation. It's a pink card instead of the green. This way you do have proof the item was delivered.

  I just received a coin from the Vatican. It was sent registered and I had to sign for it here just like a domestic registered item. I don't know if the French postal system treats registered mail coming from outside France the same way USPS treats domestic registered mail, though. What's the coin worth? You can get third party insurance for international mailings without having to send by registered mail.
