Went through a total of 40 rolls now and I have not found what I consider to be one that would grade MS65+

If were stuck with Jefferson, let's go back the the Schlag side-view portrait.
The problem is registry competitors who are just out for the highest point total will use the Satin Finish mint set coins, where 68s and even some 69s were common last year.
The truist business strike people will want these, but I think the price levels will not be as crazy as it would if they were required in the reg sets.
PCGS has stated the same thing this year, they said last, when we asked why the Jefferson series wasn't stopped and a third set started, (ie. 38-64=set 1, 65-03=set 2, and 2004-and beyond=set 3), Mr Hall said they were studying the issue and would send out a poll for all the Jefferson Nickel collectors to find out what we wanted to do... nothing to date has changed and I'm still waiting for the poll.
I've fought the decision by PCGS for as long as I could... without others making a stink, nothing ever gets fixed.

<< <i>Well, as one of the registry guys... with the either/or PCGS decision (SMS or MS), I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone willing to pay decent money for a coin that can, and will be easily beaten by a run-of-the-mill SMS69FS coin. I also believe, without the potential for the mint state coins to have equality within the registry, there won't be as many of these coins being graded this year...

I think the depth on Jefferson's face is good, but it doesn't look much like Jefferson to me. I don't like Monticello. I'm partial to the bison.

No full pix of the coins (yet) but I've found a clean one ( 1 )
I'va also found some interesting die cracks .... I call this "Dynomite Monticello"

I completely agree with you about the potential for high grade examples. This thread just goes to show how hard they really are to find. You'd think, after looking through 40 rolls as Trinketts stated, you'd expect to potentially find at least 1 candidate for a slab.
The sad thing is... I recently finished searching through seventeen thousand 2003 P & D's from mint bags looking to make a MS67FS coin, especially a D mint... with no luck whatsoever. Not 1 decent coin... with a handfull of possible 66's... the search I started in 2003...
No matter what some people might think about the look of these coins, I believe only the completely insane (had another word there... but) believe these things are easily found in top grade.
