XF 40 is my guess. Looks nice and crusty. Can't wait to see real pics of it. image

I say numerically, no better than 30, but highly attractive for the grade.

I agree with the VF30 grade, but something keeps drawing my eye to the very top of miss libery's head. I can't see well enough to tell if there is a little ding or what.

Depending upon what if anything is up with her head, it could change my mind. I would need to see a closer image if that.

I agree.... Very Fine to Extra Fine, but for eye appeal, it doesn't score that great ----sorry Lee but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

It looks like it's seen cleaning or some type of bath to me image....or is this normal in the fields and around the devices on seated liberty quarters ?

Nice coin LeeG, solid xf40. I just saw this post and was scrolling down to guess a grade when I saw the slab.

My guess was going to say xf40 maybe a 45. And I was going to add, for all the ones who posted 30 to please sell me all there Seated material they grade VF30. Very nice original crusty coin.

    I like it.

a super high end vf hence the services said xf40 like i first posted vf+++/xf

and as with new orleans mint totally undervalued and underrated and an above average strike for the weak struck coins of this mint

from what i see in the scan this coin is above average overall for eye appeal

based on other early quarters from this mint

lloks like a beautiful original skin to the coin

Concur with Michael on this. Now what PCGS calls XF40. Head and other details are a tad weak because of strike. The shield is very bold. But I think the surfaces were very lightly cleaned to remove some of the heavier dirt on the coin, hence the open fields a bit shinier in appearance. Far above average compared to the usual scrubbed pieces offered at VF-AU. In XF-AU the O mint seated quarters are one of the best values in silver coinage. It was not long ago that you could find decent XF/AU pieces for as little as $50-100. Heck, it wasn't all that long ago that real "no rub" and full luster MS61/62's could be bought for $500-$750. Now the super slider AU's are called MS62 and run $1500-2500. It's a different world.
