Winning Ebay Coin Auctions With 1 Second Left?

I was bidding on ebay tonight and got sniped by the same person 3 times on different morgans my bids were accepted with 4 seconds left, 7 seconds left and lastly 9 seconds left, the same person that snipe me place his bids with 1 second to go on all three auctions I bidded on. Is there new tech out there for buyers to push the button at the last second, are there automatic last second web hosts or something? I am pissed, I don't think it was possible to lose the 4 second bid but I did.

    Don't be pissed--bid higher.

As for sniping late, some online snipers can be set to snipe at 1 second, and people can manually do it, too... I have on numerous occasions.

Some people do it manually. I do and can get 1-2 second snipes pretty regularly. Although I am a member of auction sniper for when I am not home and available to snipe. You tell that site what auction you want to snipe and when you want to snipe and it does it for you. Your computer does not even need to be on.

Snipers should never get mad. If you really want an item, put in a bid that will secure it and make it "risky" for a sniper to attempt bidding on.

If it is undervalued with a short time left...... a "near book value" bid will usually secure it !

There are many sniping programs out there. I use my sniping program for when I'm away and will snipe at 1 second too. I usually am manually sniping when at home, and have more than 10 snipes at 1 second. You have to practice and have a good clock on your computer that's checked with regularly to make sure of the accuracy. It also depends on your computer's hook up too. I've pissed off people and have been pissed off because I tried to get coins cheaper than I knew they were worth. It's also a LOT of luck because of the above.

Follow the advice of those here on the boards. If you WANT a coin, bid as HIGH as you can afford. BUT, wait until the last possible moment so others have less of a chance of outbidding you. Don't get pissed off if you are outbid. The winner wanted the coin more than you. There are people that can pay $5,000 on a single 2006 uncirculated penny just to be the first to have one. And that's pocket change and doesn't matter to them if it goes down. It would be a tax write off anyway. That's also why I use a sniping program or spend a LOT of time practicing on the computer. I don't bid on ANY coin I TRUELY want until the last few seconds.

There are others that follow what I bid on and would bid on those items too if offfered a chance. Not so much on coins as on antique glass. The glass is by far rarer than the coins I buy, just not as many collectors of it. Besides, there aren't as many fools as I am for collecting "modern crap(TM)" like Kennedys. Right Russ? Ray

I won one yesterday at 1 second. It's also possible to win lots with zero seconds left. I can't really recommend either of those, tho -- too much chance of network hiccup, even in the best of circumstances. I usually aim for 5 seconds. Anyone who can read my bid, type in a higher number, and get it entered all in less than 5 seconds deserves to win.

FWIW, one of the other reasons to snipe is to hide your bidding interests. If two people outsnipe me, my bid isn't even going to show up on the list, and nobody will know that I was even looking at the item.

A proper high bid will always beat even the fastest sniper.

Yup, there's one thing to foil any sniper with the trickest sniping program, and that is simply $. I've never tried any of those programs mostly because I'm just not that into it. I'm a manual sniper, and placing a bid under 3 seconds is pretty easy, but like others have already said, just bid strong if you're worried about getting picked off.

HI Thanks for the advice, I would bid a little higher on a coin, yes, but you know as well I as I do there a still shill bidding going on, and that really pisses me off, not getting sniped but someone shilling. thanks again.

All I can say is to bid much higher than the small increment that ebay allows. Many live auctions require a 5% higher bid over the last bidder. Don't try to get it at just $1 over.

I did get 1 coin with 1 second left. That was more an accident. I wanted the coin but got side-tracked. When I went to bid, there was just a second left and my bid went through. I was very happy to get it and that coin is still in my collection.

A sniper gets sniped, and is "pissed"? Interesting.

I get pissed all the time when someone out-snipes me. It has nothing to do with sniping, tho. It's no fun being outbid, whenever it happens. Especially if you have your eye on a rip that you're hoping nobody else noticed... image

I use esnipe, the first 2 weeks are free. I find that I place most of my bids through esnipe now just because it is easier than having to sit at my computer because an auction ends at 2am in the morning.

For items I really don't care about but would like anyway, I just bid and let the chips fall. I am successful on about 75% of my snipes but only about 25% of the non-snipes.

Sniping works because if you outbid someone and give them time to think about it, they will most likely come back with another bid. They will either top your bid (and you loes) or not top it but raise your bid higher causing you to pay more even though they never bid enough to win anyway. This is what annoys me the most.

I bid enough to win the item for what I am willing to pay. ifd someone out-snipes me, they are welcome to the over-priced win!

shill bidding does not go on during the last 10 seconds

what I find curious is the same bidder beat you 3 times on same coin

are you bidding early on these to put them in your 'my eBay' ?

some buyers know what other bidders find and let them do the search, then search YOU for your auctions that you have bid on, and then put it in their SNIPE program, if they like what you bid on

the answer is you did not bid as much as the winner - they have more bucks, guts, or whatever

It's the HIGHEST bid that wins, not the LAST bid.
