What looks odd to you about it?
I doubt someone would go through the trouble for a low dollar coin.

    Craton,
Just for fun, search and find how much one of these is true DCAM would run.

I think the coin photo's been tweeked beyond belief. Raise the contrast and a mild cameo will appear much less mild.

If you are seriously considering buying this coin, do a forum search on the seller.

I don't know, I'd be a little skeptical. Those dcam sms coins are tough to find.

I think braddick nailed it. This doesn't look like added frost to me, but the image does look a bit suspicious. In person I'd bet the haze in the fields is less prominent and so is the cameo contrast. Also, there is obviously no way in hell that's an MS68 coin.

The coin appear suspicious to me... the haze around the devices and the lack of mirror depth. Clearly would not be a 68DCAM (or any DCAM) at PCGS, maybe a BB.

    Craton,
Check what one goes for... or try to obtain one by purchase or submitting yourself before concluding it is a low dollar coin. You could also check the top registry set for 1965 SMS... of the top 5 sets which are very nice sets, 3 have 67CAM and 2 have 68 (non-CAM) coins. If PCGS, a 68DCAM would be worth thousands.

This could be someone who made this hoping to get it into a PCGS holder.

That's just JWCameo - he takes average proof (or SMS coins) and uses his own special lighting techniques so they photograph as cameo.
In hand the coin won't look like that.

I would guarantee that the seller Jeff Werlin either enhanced the coin ,the photo or both.He is one of the worst Scu-bags in the coin business. He has used blue ribbon on coins to simulate artificial frosting and has many times used other dealers to whore his wares. At a matter of fact I'm surprised he is not in jail for fraud. Why don't you mention his name to either of the 3 major grading services and get a mouthful.Low life sub human toilet trash is how I would describe Jeff Werlin.

    Stewart

ps He even has the audacity to brag about the coins he has deceived third party grading services to grade.

As already noted, it's not artificially frosted, just artificially imaged.

That's not haze, it's mint frost. The difference being that haze can sometimes be corrected, mint frost is part of the coin.

I actually laughed out loud when I read the question about not enhancing his photos.

He probably laughed as he was typing it.image

The mirrors are not very impressive, even for a 65 SMS half. As stated by others, it looks like mint frost, not haze. As for the devices, the intensity of the frost shown in the picture will be noticibly absent when the coin is viewed in hand. The seller has manipulated things to exaggerate the degree of the frost. As far as the grade, MS68, IMHO, not (further, in this case I will say my opinion is more valid than the opinion of PCI).

Even if it was real, I wouldn't call it DCAM. To many of the devices show little frost.

I bought a 1967 SMS MS67CAM Quarter from him years ago. After learning of his exploits I wonder how badly I was burned... I already had one, but paid high for this one because it looks so good. I can't go back and check it now because my collection is off in some safe deposit box thousands of miles west of the west coast.
