Ebay scammer? - 1890 PR-68* quarter

rheddenrhedden Posts: 6,645 ✭✭✭✭✭
Scammer has quite possibly stolen pictures of an 1890 NGC PR68* Seated quarter and is offering it for sale on ebay- at the same time as the actual coin is being offered by its true owner. Even the description is stolen, word for word! The scammer could have at least waited until the real auction ended. What is even more amazing is that someone has bid on it, not noticing the other coin. My apologies if some of you think I'm jumping to conclusions about the one seller being a scammer, but I haven't been wrong yet.

  • Isn't that nice, a concerned board member is saving the underbidder from making a big mistake! image

Edit to add: Looks like a hijacked account. The last feedback exchange was in 2001!

Uh-oh, looks like someone won this auction for $4279. Please tell me I'm missing something, and this wasn't a scam after all.

It was a scam, but the winning bidder, though not "scum-nuker", was aware of it and will not be sending payment. image

Edited to add: Ebay has been contacted, as has the under-bidder, in case the coin is offered to him.
