can someone explain the difference between type 1&2 1956 proofs, and or show an image??

    the type 1 Eagle on the reverse has a lack of detail in the feathers on the wing, the breast feathers and a pointy beak, the type 1 will always appear softly struck:

    the type 2 Eagle has great detail in the feathers in the wings and brest, and appears sharply struck:

    the type 1 Eagle is scarcer and very rare in DCAM, if a DCAM is found it is a major score...

    I cannot get you a bigger image at the moment, but this coin topic of another thread I just gazed at, and low and behold Al, (keets) is right, this is a type one, very weak deffinition on both sides of perch in regards to wing feathers

    Do a search on this forum. I believe that Russ had a good picture showing the two within the past few months.

    Yep, 4 feathers left of perch on type 1, 3 feathers left of perch on type 2!

    well thank you all for showing me (especially al) that I have a type one waiting to be conserved

    this has the potential to be a killer coin if they can get the haze off of it. this coin has been sitting in a junk box for years, along with stuff I really didnt care about

    Lucy's pictures show pretty well for 2 dimensional comparison....but you can also look at the reverse of any 1950 to 1955 proof Franklin...this is the type 1. Then take a look at any 1957 to 1963 proof Franklin...this is the type 2.
