1964 Kennedy Half Dollar - Guess the grade.

It's in a PCI holder. What do you think they graded it?
BTW, that's die polish in the upper left obverse field and below Kennedy's chin, not hairlines.

go figure.
<< <i>So, Russ, how do you grade it? >>
MS64. It's an early PCI from back when they were brutal. I like the novelty of having a PCI graded coin from when they were the opposite of today.

Goofy slabs rock. So, that many hits on the eagle still allows a Kennedy to go 64?
Yea, that shield and the tailfeathers are all beat to heck and there are all kinds of pits on the obverse.
So Russ, are you leaving the crackout to PCGS ? I would hope so ! They do not judge the holder, they judge the coin ! MS63 (ownership adds a point, remember ?)

There are plenty in PCGS MS65 holders with that many hits to the shield. Don't forget, you're looking at an image several times larger than the actual coin. For these, MS64 is basically worthless anyway.

MS60 is about right, still not worth the $14.00 to get it slabbed these days.
Usually silver coins from the Skip Fazzari era of PCI toned up pretty good from the holders... sometimes the toning goes beyond attractive though and gets labeled environmental damage.
Heres a pretty one from a group of five old PCI Kennedys I got from Bill Burd:
