i think you brought up an excellent point. almost like fantasy
football.. this adds a lot of value to being a member.
of course the ability to submit is the most critical.. but hey, this
appears to be fun for fun's sake.
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
Couldn't you have started the contest on April 18th which is the last day of the tax season in the Northeast?
I have only a few words. You are a class act.
at least I can play this game (who knows, maybe one day ill get something graded by you other than my 3-cent piece

Strange but true. Check it out.
How will PCGS deal with inverted (erroneous) pricing? They are all around.
I hope the World Series of Grading will be offered again this year
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
What a creative idea.
Thanks David.
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
I could use the $10 Grand to pay off my grading fees this year.
Sign me up as well.

There ya go. Even more interest in moderns.
Maybe we could get a little market going in strips and the like.
NOTE: No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
Type collector since 1981
Current focus 1855 date type set
Is there going to be a page where you can go to see tracking or listing of the current top players ie: who is winning and in the lead? That way someone can make some last minute moves if needed.
Is the pop report going to be up-dated more then 1x a week? Alot of us don't have the time to check out stuff until the w/e.
Also is the pop report going to reflect what coins are available. I would think that after choosing 10-11 coins to add to your set only to find out that theyare taken would get old after a while. Is this going to updated daily?
I hope that I didn't ask questions already answered, but that is me.
This should be fun!
Later, Paul.

This is a brilliant marketing tool and I commend the creative prowess of the folks at the round table, Mr Hall.
I know wagering is not allowed , but I'll bet us paid members won't be freely throwing out Pop Report information like we used to, huh ? <snickering> My competitive nature makes me want to quit my own company and come play here, fulltime....'cept if I won, I'd lose. LOL
Incidentally, since this is my first year as a member...is there a notice or something to remind me when expiry date approaches ?
I would hate to get ahead in the game and then lose for having my membership lapse.

<< <i>(2) Since many of the players are among the most knowledgeable numismatists and dealers, will speculators take cues from the trading on this virtual market thus affecting it and our real coins? >>
There are a lot of variables and intangibles. It's unlikely the game will have too much direct effect
on any of the real markets because the relative amount of "money" is low and because this game
will constitute no supply or demand.
However, it will be fascinating to see what means very smart people will attempt in order to win
this. For instance, there's a hypothetical 2-cent collector who would never consider buying anything
but these and the latest state quarter. Most of his real money is looking for that 1873 and an up-
grade for his 1871. The states quarters are just a fun collection he's putting together for himself
and a grandchild. He isn't buying 2-centers for their potential so much as that he finds this an in-
teresting period of history and copper to be a beautiful warm metal with many charms. Being an
advanced collector he's well aware that some of his series is ridiculously underpriced.
Obviously this collector is going to snap up some of these "underpriced" coins in the hope their
value is recognized in the near future. But he's not going to put it all in these coins if he thinks
that it'll be years until there is a lot of interest. He, like most collectors, will put a disproportionate
share where the action is. He'll be "buying" coins he really hates like a big silver Morgan dollar
which was made as a proof. (impaired NCLT
and coins entirely dissimilar.
A lot of the action's in the moderns and even on paper $1,000,000 will suck up a lot of them.
This isn't to say that I believe the game will spill over into the market, just that there will be many
lessons learned in seeing how serious collectors would spend their money if they don't have to act-
ually touch the purchase. Almost everyone from the neophyte to the old timer will be buying coins
that wouldn't normally be on his shopping list.
What will be on the shopping list will be the hobby's best guess on what's underpriced and likely
to move in the near future.
