I think it means that if someone's credit card expires and an order doesn't go through at the time of shipping, they will go to the next in line as a backup. I think it is a sell out.
I found out I had fraudulent activity on my CC. I had to cancel the card. The B tch at the mint wouldn't change the CC for me and said I'd have to cancel the order and order new. I did that Friday and judging by these emails she should have know they were sold out. Stupid b tch. I'm totally screwed.

relaaaaax just ask for supervisor after supervisor until you get someone who will change the payment on your current order. life is too short to blow a gasket over a coin, a modern, no less.
cmon ! this is the government we're talking about they'll get it right!

To late. Cancelled Thursday 5 PM. Re-ordered Friday 4:15PM.
But I just looked at the first message about the sellout and it's timestamped 4:45PM Friday. There may be hope, maybe after my order they shut it down.
Or atleast I'd be one of the first in line, for those idiots that cancel their orders.
<< <i>Do you think they will ship prior to 4/30?? and when do you think these coins will be struck... or are have they already been struck?
It sure seems like a long time till they're ready to be shipped. >>
The first Franklin commemoratives were made December 19, 2005 here in Phila. I would assume they've been making them ever since and will for sometime. Under normal circumstances, these would not have been released 'til later in the year, but the Mint bumped up the sale date to coincide with Ben's 300th birthday on January 17th.

The Philadelphia Mint: making coins since 1792. We make money by making money. Now in our 225th year thanks to no competition.
To the guy who tried to change his CC because of an early expir date or other problems - I did the same - and did not have to change anything else about my order.....my expir date was earlier than May
My rant update is, first it's better to rant here than yell at someone who had nothing to do with the problem. (which I didn't do).
After cooling off I called the Mint, they said they couldn't fix the cancelled order and I was so close to the cut off that they couldn't tell if I made it. This is what I was thinking earlier. So I might be in or I'm pretty much first in line to get a cancelled order, which I'm thinking will happen. I'll just have to wait and see.
But look at this list of what happened. First I see charges on my American Express that are not mine, this of course has never happened to me, but it happens during the week of the Franklins going on sale, of course I used that credit card, I could have used another, but I used that one. I call the Mint and get a person that says they can't change the CC number (could of had one that said they could ) , so I cancel and use a different card on the day the Mint just happens to have reached a sell out (sellout could have happened the next week) . I mean, this would be funny if it wasn't me. What are the odds of all this happening in one week.
I don't see a reason why these coins so popular and sellout quick.
I think these coins are very neat and I can't wait to get mine. I'm especially fond of the "Founding Father" because of the Fugio reverse. These coins will fit nicely next to the Buffalo commems in my collection.
I've had great transactions with people like: drwstr123, CCC2010, AlanLastufka, Type2, Justlooking, zas107, StrikeOutXXX, 10point, 66Tbird, and many more!

<< <i>Well looks like we have a new sold out record. Buffalo dollar was 21 days, Franklin was 10. >>
Hopefully the prices will go crazy, I can sell a few Ben Franklins, and will be able to get that Buffalo dollar I missed out on.

Never Mind..... I'm just a step behind tonight
"We are continuing to take orders. If you choose to place an order and product becomes available, you will be considered "next in line," "
Does this mean if enough additional orders come in they will increase the mintage?

aficionado, you don't have to worry a bunch of it will end up on ebay.
I wish they could change the mintage limit of Legacy set to 25k.
