What does PVC damage look like?

I found 4 old coins that were in flips. I don' t know if they are pvc or not. No "shower curtain" smell to them. One of the buffalo nickles has some green hazing, and the buffalo looks like he just puked up a brownish greenish blob that goes from his beard to the ground.
I know one of you photo heavy guys out there has to have some pics.
thanks

<< <i>On Buffalo nickels, due to the high copper content, it could be PVC or just verdigris. I would suggest an acetone bath, since it can't hurt. >>
Where do you get acetone?

Do I just stick them in a glass bowl with acetone and swish the bowl around? Then rinse in distilled water? What about to dry?
Thanks
