How could a registry set grade be different than weighted grade if 100% complete?

If you need an example, check out California II on the Morgan registry. That must be a mistake, right?

  • In theory it should never be different, but it happens frequently lately, due to the new VAM numbers. When an PCGS coin is sent in for variety review, its coin number may change. Then, the set that contains that coin still registers the same completion percentage, but the coin is given no weight (just as if the slot were empty). This problem will eventually disappear when PCGS "operations" communicates all the new coin numbers to the registry people.
