1968-S Lincoln Question about Doubling?

The MM is not doubled, But the date and IGTW and Liberty are. The most doubling is on the date, Almost look's tripled?

    Although I can't tell from your scan (it's a bit dark, and I can't see the doubling)
    the large majority of 1968-S and 1969-S Cents with doubling on the obverse
    are the result of what is commonly called "ejection doubling", or "mechanical
    doubling"....this is very very common, and carries no premium to knowledgable
    collectors.

    This doubling is not considered to be a mint error.

    This type of doubling (as well as the different types of doubled dies, etc.) is explained
    in detail at the back of the CherryPicker's Guide to Die Varieties, 4th Ed., Volume 1

    It looks like it was struck on a 1943 Mercury Dime planchet.

    If you could get closer up pics of the date, IGWT and LIBERTY that might help. It's real hard to tell from those photos. The Cherrypickers' Guide lists only a 1968S proof, but that doesn't mean there aren't others. I'd have to agree with Fred that the odds are vastly in favor of it being machine doubling. image

    Best as I can tell, from what I can see (those pics are not clear enough) It looks like strike doubling to me. I do not see any hub doubling on that coin.
    Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
