  It's original color, Russ. Maybe I shouldn't have said bright red.........it's same red as the other copper coins I have that are graded RD by PCGS.

  Sounds like there might be some parrot poo on it. A carbon spot will take away from the grade 0 to 1 point depending on the location and the size of the spot.

  Cheryl, you are asking am impossible question. So many non-slabbed IHC's have been messed with, recolored, wiped etc, even graders have a hard time with IHC's. Depending on the color it could go red, red brown, then there is the issue of the strike and lustre. If it has a severe carbon spot they might not even grade it because of their guarantee. As if often said this thread is worthless without pics. As long as I have studied them I still miss the grade more than half the time.

  really, your pictures are terrible and it's hard to make out A black spot.
  
  if you think you might have something there and would like to make sure, I'd bet you could send it to someone on here with a few bux for return postage, and let them take a peek at it for you.
