For those of you who have been ripped off by Louie, he has struck again! He had the nerve to screw Boom, the swapmaster, of all people! Go to the Coin Swaps, Tags and Giveaways and take a look.

Louie needs to be banned from these boards. If you have had problems with him, please post it here and maybe the powers that be will finally ban him.

As a newb when I first found this place, I would have saved myself a lot of time, money and grief had I used the search function before I tried my 1st. swap with Louie.

I did a swap with him awhile back traded some brown box Ikes for some morgans. When they arrived they were scratched had glue on them. I don't deal with him anymore.

Sorry to hear about Boom's situation . My comments dont' have any bearing on this unfortunate situation but more so just the forum hang 'em high posse in general.

Isn't this a similar type of deal that Guy brought up on another thread? On ebay transactions we stone someone who was nuts enough to bid on something that may have been questionable..even from a 100% long time FB seller. Could be one with a return policy as well. Doesn't matter as the outcome could still be the same. We don't even look at the seller as at fault in those cases. But on the forum we immediately hang the seller and absolve the buyer/trader from any sort of guilt by association.

This is the real world fellas. I don't automatically expect any different treatment on the BST from someone I do not know than I would on ebay. I don't order raw coins or even slabs as a rule. There is not even a FB forum to give you a hint of warning. Maybe there should be. If Louie had so many bad deals there should be some sort of way not be the next guy.

I am also a bit tired of getting ripped off by the PO. Yes, I have lost items in the mail and tell me of one coin collector who has not been victimized by the PO or its employees who seem to know by the fact that a package is mailed out by a coin collector and is insured and at most times heavy, that it contains items that they could very well steal and let the PO pay the insurance claim.

Before you were born I was serving in Korea in 1952 and also in Vietnam in 66-67 and I am also somewhat disabled because my hearing is almost gone due to rocket attacks in Nam. This is my only source of enjoyment and now you suggest that you will ban me from participating in the swaps. I am somewhat taken aback by your total lack of getting my side of the story. It seems that you side with those others when they make an accusation against me without getting my side of the story.

As far as coins getting lost and then once again appearing in the swap session. This is bull. Do you have only one coin. Do you not have duplicates? Do you not list more than one coin in a swap session? Do you not, and also these phantom people who say they have been victimized by me and yet have not contacted me at all about it, have dups of coins. I think this is a bit farfetched and disagree with it.

Why don't you check with all the people who have had successful swaps with me and have been completely satisfied with their swaps. If you will recall, I was doing these swaps before you started doing them. You are quick to cite the downers against me but not the uppers. Anyway, here is the insurance receipt. You will note that the PO clerk, instead of putting in the info on your name and street address, just wrote in "Segura", but the name in the upper says, "New Iberia. LA".

I have done my part with the swap. I sent coins I thought you would want, which you did not. I am not a mindreader and had no idea those would be rejected. The two coins I sent were two nice morgan dollars. Their value may not be 100.00 but they were more than $50.00, in my opinion.

So now the ball is in your court. I have had my say. If I am disallowed from doing other swaps then I say fine with me and I will live with it. I have made some good friends on the swap board and still continue to swap with them individually. So you see, Boom, not all people on these swap boards hate me. Lou

The fact that he brought up the 'wah wah wah, I'm a disabled vet' line disqualifies any of his counterargument.

ok Im getting tired of saying this

alot of people have voiced their concern in dealing with louie--well all I can add is 2 points:

1) I had three deals with Louie, and all were completed just as expected, in a very timely manner with me most deffinately being satisfied

2)if so many people have had bad trades/whatever with him, why does everyone keep going back?

I would trade with Louie again, but it would be done the way it was done first 3 times I did, everyone said I shouldnt deal with him, so I asked kindly for him to send first-I had no problems

and just so everyone knows Im not saying anything didnt happen here, or that anyone is stupid for dealing with him

Yeah, that sense of entitlement is a turnoff.

Just because they may have (and deserve) our gratitude for their service and sacrifice -- assuming it's all true -- it doesn't mean that we owe them anything and everything else.

Better yet Russ, just buy a prosthetic leg. That way when people attack your character, you can say "I have a prosthetic leg from the war" (You bought it during wartime, right?) and try and make them feel discredited in their attack.

This reminds me of a movie about one-armed ballplayer Pete Gray, who played for the St. Louis Browns in 1945. In the movie, Gray was yelling at people at another table at a diner to be quiet. The guys turned around, ready to beat the crap out of Gray, saw he had only one arm, and even though it wasn't a war injury, they suddenly stopped and one guy said "Oh...sorry, soldier" and turned around quietly.

When I first took control of an out of control Swap Forum it was like a runaway train with no one at the wheel. Things were in such a chaotic state that somebody HAD to do something.

I have run swaps ever since and have stopped the hit and run newbies that would sign up, get some items, send nothing in return then disappear, never to be heard from again. Now, new people are thoroughly screened by me...and I DO MEAN thoroughly.

I have lain down some common sense rules of swapping that can be seen in the opening post of most every swap in which is clearly stated that this is NOT a get rid of stuff you no longer want, pawning them off on your partner and have also put a stop to the placement of undue stress on partners to run out and buy things exclusive to your collection, or else.

I state to treat each other fairly and to communicate with one another....to treat your partner as you would like to be treated and if in doubt, throw in some more. This is a Hobby...our Hobby in it's purest form yet there are people that need to be outed for notorious, repetitive bad behavior and obvious lack of ethics.

I took Louie on purpose because I had had numerous complaints about him and wanted to see firsthand what trading with him was like. Keep in mind that he emailed me and cavalierly stated that he would definitely be on his best behavior. I submit to you that if THIS is his best, then he most definitely needs to be outed as I had just mediated ( as unbiasedly as possible) a major screw up between him and another member that was for a LOT more (approximately $2500). For reasons only known to God and Louie he insured a package worth $2500 for only $600 How friggin' DUMB is THAT !!? and supposedly the item was stolen by his self proclaimed "thieving Post Office".

I try to be fair with ALL people and so I sat patiently and listened to both sides of the story. When I reached a Common Sense conclusion Louie flew into a rage and went into this super defensive posture, coming at me with his fangs bared. Well, I had to put Mr. Louie in his place and this situation that could have and should have been resolved between the two members, unbelievably TOOK ME to resolve it. If the member in question cares to post the details that is his perogative. (Clue- read Aija's post)

Anyway, to make a long story short, I gave him his last chance when I took him as a partner and he failed miserably. I wanted to see for myself and I did. I sent him a very nice gift that was encased in one of those hard acrylic holders. Before I ever received a thing he had already taken the coins out and started stuffing his album...the same thing he had done with the member I am speaking of, even selling off some of the other member's pieces. Believe me, what Aija had to endure was a disgraceful nightmare. Louie even collected the $600 insurance money and did not send it to Aija.

Well, enough is enough. Always coming up with the same old lines has gotten old and there is a definite pattern with Louie. So for the good of the whole and the life of Coin Swapping, I have no other alternative but to cut him from the pack.

BTW, as I state in my post, while I sent him something to be proud of HE sent me worthless JUNK and I STILL have not seen the so called insured package of Morgans that he states he has sent. This was a Christmas Swap and here we are 1-12-06 and he's helped himself to what I sent and I have not been made whole. THAT was his last straw. How damn stipid is that?

He challenged me to post this thread and I have accomodated him. I guess it would be a fair statement to say that the B00M has been lowered on Louie.

For what it's worth- Louie and I had 1 swap, and although his eyesight might not be perfect- he was a gentleman.

Would I swap again with him? I don't know, would I trade with him, unfortunately his goals are not mine, so I would have to decline, but with all this said- it is Boom that he ticked off, and wether you believe me or not- I have had many chats via the phone with Boom- I regard him to be a righteous person and tells it like it is.

if Louie wants to wah wah- wel let him- it's his perogative to voice what he wants, as for some of you ninnies- why slam the guy for a single line? I have seen some of the crap you folks put here and on other forums- and to be honest- with the amount of time spent crapping on everyone - what WE should be having is a real life.

with that said- I have to go make my din din- cuz mom is not here to do it. BWAHHHHHH BWAHHHHHHH

I had totally forgotten about him, but this thread brings him back to mind. His tag was something like "swapping is my passion, I will always answer any PMs about swapping. We exchanged a ton of Emails, pretty much him wanting to trade his common date Lincolns for my Morgans. Never seemed like a guy who liked swapping. More like a guy looking to fleece someone.

When I read this thread, I got curious because I was recently involved with a trade with someone named Louie, only I didn't meet him through this board so I thought it must be a coincedence. I was still curious though so I did a search and found the posts on the swap forum and looked at his profile and it is the same person. Here is a link to a thread where I posted a picture of the coin he wanted to trade to me Thread about trade with Louie I ended up returning that Morgan back to him, but I accepted a different Morgan from him that wasn't a toner. I did it mainly because he really semed to want my duplicate Jeffersons. He had found out that I had a bunch of duplicate Jeffersons that I wanted to sell. In the first e-mail he sent to me he asked if I would trade with him because he wanted to put together a set of Jeffs for his grandson for Christmas but he was short on cash. I figured sure, why not.

I'm not really worried about the trade because the Jeffs were just duplicates and I had figured that he probably wasn't aware that the coin pictured in the thread was most likely AT'd, but after reading the current thread and hearing about the problems I figured I'd post. I still don't dislike the guy or anything though. I just figured he was a bit senile or something because he kept sending me e-mails where he kept forgetting what was going on. In other words, I dunno.

I hate to hear what he is doing to everyone here. For myself , I have had one transaction with him. It was a good one about 2 1/2 years ago. Due to these posts I will not do business with him again.
