Hot off the press..... As promised, the PayPal fees have all been taken care of with a fresh donation by our own illustrious TUMUSS with yet another donation of $150.
OUR NEWEST TOTAL (NET) is a WHOPPING $4106.94. This eliminates all PayPal fees but for a paltry $4.65
And to think....just a couple years ago they said "it can't be done"! Well, everyones' items are shipped out and NOW the real work begins, albeit a Labor of Love on behalf of everyone here!
Once again the Christmas Charity is a success and a record setting one, to be sure.

I think I still have that photo on file, including the floodwaters in relation to where I am and since I do not have my own web space, I cannot post them as large as the majority here. I am not as "Computer Gifted" as most of you are. Should someone care to host these pix for me I'd be glad to show and explain what they illustrate but bear in mind what you see pales in comparison to the more utter devastation both opposite directions from here.
You cannot appreciate the reality that IS New Orleans, to this day. Months later this once beautiful City doesn't even have a governing infrastructure. I have been both to New Orleans and the other direction, to the West... to the Holly Beach area. It's totally gone I SAID....IT IS TOTALLY GONE.... A ONCE PRISTINE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN WIPED OFF THE FACE OF THE PLANET!!
Chaos, misery, Death (yes, there are still untolled amounts of dead being found everyday) is everywhere. I wasn't stretching it one iota when I said that if you think you're bad and can handle it, come out and volunteer and just make the mistake of not getting out before dark. You WILL know what FEAR is... FEAR FOR YOUR OWN LIFE. Ah, but what's the use, right....it's someone else's problem.
Someone else will take care of it! Complacency is total crap. This is why I am truly grateful on one hand yet on the other I wish we could do so much more. THIS IS REALITY... Go to New Orleans and witness this for yourselves. People are STILL waiting for SOMEONE to help them. Have you ever experienced how slowly time passes when you are waiting for someone and no one comes? That HAS to be one of if not THE worst feelings known to man.
These people are hungry, homeless and starving and the scope of this despair is unfathomable. Ah, but here people are far removed from all this and not seeing it, go on with their lives because it doesn't affect them, their everyday affairs and business dealings.....but just remember this. In an instant, just as on that fateful Morning back in September already 4 years ago, any and all our lives could forever change, if not cease to be.
I also told all of you from the jump that I have this thing for Anonimity/ Obscurity. This IS NOT about hamming it up for a Camera or to be seen in local or National newspapers. This IS NOT about "attaboys", pats on the back or to be seen on the 6 o'clock News.
I have a Game Plan and it's already begun. Money will be donated first and foremost to children (ask Bunker) to the underprivileged that cannot afford even the basic staples of life. Not only will hundreds of Christmas Dinners be prepared and distributed in places most of you would be terrified to go but bags of Groceries and gifts as well so that these families may have a Christmas together and if but for just ONE DAY, they WILL KNOW that out there somewhere, somebody they don't even know, cares about them.
THIS is what Christmas means to ME. I have all I want and then some and therefore am very fortunate, indeed. I could blow it all off and just stay in my cozy little Home. I don't HAVE to do this or to get out in the Cold and put myself in compromising situations in fear of being mobbed or rolled.... but then again, YES I DO. In the 28 years I have been doing this not ONCE has any harm come to me.
How many here would actually go into the slums, the projects etc where the Players are....the gangbangers....the street people/ Crack dealers, pimps and prostitutes? HOW MANY? I'm going and NOTHING will stop me. For the record, we have already made a cash donation to Toys For Tots. Do I ask for a receipt? Gimme a break! Do I run around with a Camera Crew? GET REAL !!
Those of you that know me KNOW that I do as I say and when it is all over, I can rest my weary bones in total and complete satisfaction, knowing I've done everything I can and my friends, I am deeply moved by the Faith and Trust you have shown in me. I will not let you down nor will I stop until the last Cent is spent or I draw my last breath, whichever comes first.
THIS IS YOUR CHARITY NOW, not mine and when my time is up, like our beloved Frank this past year, I TRULY hope someone keeps this going. Then and only then, after I am gone, may you call this the B00M Foundation....not before. This is the Caring Numismatists for the truly needy at Christmas Charity Drive.....YOUR Charity.
All the numbers are in order and I've shipped out all Auction items in my posession. Whether or not you took part, you are still a part of this group and as such, you are a part of this Charity. Whether or not you believe in God is entirely your business, but I DO....and whether or not it is politically correct, I say to ALL of you, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
If you are moved to still take part in this I am still accepting any and all donations no matter how big or how small. If you want to know how to do so, either look around a bit or ask someone who is on the Master List.

About those satellite images.....if and when you see them in relation to where I am, it occurs to you just how fortunate I am. Just a 3 minute drive from here and you see utter and complete devastation....peoples' homes were completely covered with flood waters from the Storm surge, yet I remained high and dry and suffered absolutely no damage, whatsoever. When I first saw these images I was in total awe yet it wasn't until I got out and saw all this for myself that I realized just how fortunate I am. Words...they can do no justice!
We live in a world in which television totally desensitizes us. Nothing phases us anymore. We have regretfully become comfortably numb to REALITY. Think about it. 9-11 and other such catastrophes hardly phase us anymore. Only when we experience these events up close and personal do we actually appreciate what has transpired.
Images on a TV screen, write ups in newspapers everywhere, CNN or the Fox News Network....Journalistic sensationalism do little compared to actually being there and seeing human misery up close and personal and thanks to many of you, we are going to do something about it.
