Picture Copyrights - Once you purchase....

a coin from anyone, do any pictures previously taken and copyrighted of that coin belong to the new owner? Probably a stupid question, but am curious.

Not necessarily - you're talking about a different situation with a different subject. You aren't talking about a purchase then subsequent use of the photos that someone else took. You're talking about a client hiring a photographer to take photos of something they own, then the photographer deciding they could use the photos as they wish...which also isn't ethical.

Funny case, someone purchased one of our model homes not too long ago in one of our developments. A couple months later they sent a letter to us saying they wanted compensation for any pictures that we used that contained their new home in them or that they would sue (All were taken before they owned the home, not that it mattered). Of course, we told them to sod off (In nicer terms) and had our lawyer draft a letter with an explanation of exactly what rights they didn't have. Needless to say, pictures of what now is their home are still on the cover of the brochures for that development and we haven't heard from them since and likely never will again, which is great, because they were quite the pain in the ass, even relative to what new home buyers generally are expected to be.
