Great News....just found out!

Barnes and Noble is stocking my book, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents, second edition." My publisher called with the news. They ordered a few cases, and I'm to guess they are giving it a test run in some of their stores. Cool!

Only if they sell enough books to warrant my receiving royalty pay from the publisher.
The way it works is that the publisher takes the risk of publishing your work and calculates how many books they think they will sell. They give you a certain percentage of each book sold, and usually give you an up-front advance on royalty based on what they think will sell. My number was 2,500 books.
In order for me to start earning additional royalty they would have to sell more than that number. So no, I am not making any more because B&N now stocks them, but it exposes the book to far many more people than my publisher alone can...so the chance is there that B&N could sell enough copies to push my pre-paid advance into unpaid territory and earn me a quarterly check.

It has been on Amazon, Booksamillion, and B&N's websites for months now on a pre-order basis (they only order when someone orders through them), but this is the first time a major retailer has called the publisher and ordered cases of the book ahead of sales to stock on the shelves.

Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode where he got thousands of 2 cent royalty checks and his hand was killing him from signing all of them? Hopefully yours will come in one check!

<< <i>Will it be generally available to order online? If so, let me (us) know, as I'd (we'd) be happy to order a copy...Mike >>
Yes. You can order it from a number of online sources - I cannot specify any single sources because I can't possibly name them all and wouldn't want to leave any one of them out. There are a number of distributors, some set up regularly at shows but also have online sites. Let me know if you have any trouble searching for it online, and I'll try to help.
