I am continually impressed with the customer service at ANR

There are frequently posts discussing the quality of ANR's cataloging, research, etc. There are also posts with stories of the superior customer service that ANR offers. Occasionally there is some negativity toward dealers in general on these boards, so I think it is nice to continue to post good experiences with dealers.

This morning I ordered a book from ANR as a present for my nephew (a coin collector). I ordered it online, and for security purposes, ANR does not take credit card numbers over the internet. Literally about 10 minutes later, I got a call from Amy at ANR, and she very pleasantly confirmed my order and took my card number. She confirmed my shipping address, and because it was a Christmas present, she made sure that I would receive it in time to give to my nephew (she even asked if I would have to mail it to my nephew or give it to him in person, further making sure that there would be enough time for him to get the book). I even asked to have the book personalized by QDB himself, and I think my nephew will get a kick out of that. Cool stuff!

I deal with relatively few dealers (and in the grand scheme of things I am a very little fish), but I am continually impressed with the customer service at ANR, Mark Feld, DLRC, and Pinnacle. Keep up the good work.

ANR is by far the best auction house.
  • I concur. I especially appreciate their consideration during lot viewing, and the heartfelt thanks offered by the ANR staff for people attending their auctions.

I agree with your comments re: ANR. I had the recent experience of winning an auction lot and needing some special attention with the shipping. They literally bent over backwards to make it work for me. If it were another auction firm, I would have likely received a "tough luck, buddy" response like I have in the past, if they could even find my bid in the system the next day. Here's a quote for future advertising purposes ( image ): "If I could only deal with one auction firm, it would be ANR. Frankly, it is the only numismatic auction firm with whom I care to do business."

Oh, for those that cannot stand complimentary threads about dealers, my regrets (hehe).

Hey, thanks folks! I'll pass the kind words on to the rest of the ANR team.

I think it's telling that when the old firm left Wolfeboro in 2003, we all hung in to form this new team. We could have gone elsewhere, worked for another firm, etc. but we work well enough together and enjoy each other's company enough that no one flinched at the idea of starting anew together. That includes everyone from the people who ship the books and take phone orders all the way up to the top offices.

In general, I think that most dealers (and most auction houses) try to offer good customer service. In time, all who read this who have had negative interactions with dealers will probably find one or a few dealers whose personality etc. is just right, or at least I hope so. We try to treat everyone as a "friend of the firm" and I think there is a long list of dealers who have the same sort of outlook towards present or potential customers.

For the most part security over the internet is better than security on a phone.

    Edit: I do like ANR.

Those are two very good points. Why have an adversarial relationship with a dealer/customer when you can have am amicable one? Some people seem to prefer the former.
  • After consigning my collection to them for auction at this past Baltimore show, I can honestly give them a big image
  • They are tops in my book too. Honest, knowledgeable, eager to please. I can't say enough good about them.
