Any VAMers want to try to attribute the NGC 65PL over at Teletrade tonight?

Teletrade Lot 1783

I thought the mintmark looked more like a VAM-3 and didn't detect the same chips in the 6 that I see on my VAM-2. When I did a bunch of measurements, it compared pretty well with the VAM-2. Teletrade's image resolution is naturally lacking at the "right" level to discern it.

Got my VAM-2 (S/S) in this same exact grade in a PCGS slab already and it doesn't command a premium as a Top-100 variety from what I have seen anyway. Fun exercise, in any event, on an interesting date with few known varieties.

In PCGS, NGC and ANACS holders, 1886-S/S have typically been bringing about a 10% premium over regular coins.

Except in very high grades. Both the 86-S/S and 95-S/S end up wth valuation fluctuations that make the variety premium indiscernable from just the piece-to-piece asthetic variation from what I have seen. The 91 VAM-2 is kind of like that around 64DMPL too. But I think a fair percentage of he coins in that grade are VAM-2 as a lot of the choice DMPLs of the 87-S are S/S (but those realize a premium).

I readily agreed with this statement up until two months ago when PCGS begin attribtuing the Top 100 VAMs and created various VAM Registry sets. Now, I'd love to have a PCGS MS65 VAM 2 and be able to put it up for sale and see what happens.

I guess I will find out when I sell my set one day.

Right now, I am trying to figure out if it is worth crossing all of my NGC slabs over to PCGS. Maybe I can negotiate a special deal or something.

I was hesitant about sending in my OGHs and OTHs for attribution. But I figured the coin is still the coin. The only VAM I held back was in a rattler.
