Yet Another Baltimore report!

Saturday was not as busy as previous shows in Baltimore that I've been to. As a collector I didn't mind the quieter atmosphere but I am sure the dealers would have liked more traffic. As I mentioned in another thread, the dealers with junk boxes were the only ones with a waiting line.
My first stop was ANACS. I met James Taylor and saw the new holders. I like them a lot. There are new features for collectors as well as dealers. The best being the fact that you can read the label and grade from the top of the slab when they are in a box. I submitted some coins including a full set of cameo SMS '67 coins, minus the cent. Maybe some will Heavy Cam if the grader's having a good day
. I also sent a 185? Flying Eagle cent that I found digging in my backyard, close to D.C., when I was a teenager. There is a snowballs chance in hell that it's a '56 but there is a chance. It's bent, corroded, & cleaned and the "5" seems more like the '56 style. At the very least it will be an interesting "detailed to death" '58.
I stopped at the table of Ed Hipps thanks to a forum member recomendation. I picked up an AU 1875CC Seated Half for my type book. I really liked the color on this one. I also got a 1906 IHC (MS63?) for my 7070.
There's a guy in the far right corner that has a lot of Worlds fair stuff and a few coins. His coins seem like they were priced 20 years ago so I always check out what he's got. I wanted a few Jeff nickels he had and he said he had more and brought out this strange old album page with really nice and slightly colorful uncirculated early Jeffs. I ended up getting 20 coins total at what I thought was a very fair price.
The group decided to go with a few that wanted the food court this time rather than the Wharf Rat. I liked the fact that we could all get different things and no group check to settle. This may become the new standard for forum lunches. Tootawl, Merc, Dollars, and Newsman and I had a relaxing lunch. I met with KSteelheader briefly before lunch and saw his Canadian Cameo Totem Dollars. Nice coins! I also got to meet Halfnut and his son before they went to enjoy the "food" at Hooters. We all said Hi to Julian too who has the prime table just inside the hall entrance.
At lunch, Merc looked over my new Seated Half and schooled me on the fact that it was polished at some point in it's past. It had been at least a decade ago due to the nice toning it developed since then. Oh well, I paid 2/3 of "book retail" so perhaps that was the reason it was priced lower. I like it and that's all that matters in this case. It's certainly not the first cleaned coin I've put in my album and probably won't be the last either. Here's the coin:
I found 10 more circulated wheat cents I needed for my cent album and also picked up an AU 1863 IHC to complete that row in my 7070. Overall a great day and a good time!

Some of the guys at lunch said it might be Wayte Raymond (?) - They tone coins well and the empty page would sell on ebay.
The back says "No. 1458 Made in U.S.A. Trade Mark MEGHRIG". Anyone have experience with these?

Meghrig was a coin & stamp supplier and manufacturer located on Western Ave near 6th St in Los Angeles in the '50s & '60s. The owner was an old Armenian man named Meghrigian. He was a nice guy. The store closed when he croaked.
They also manufactured coin tubes for rolls--I put BU wheaties in the tubes and they are now entombed (can't get 'em out).
I think I'll but a roll of 2005 Bisons and fill this page then stick in storage. Maybe my kids will get some nice toners some day. ??

I hope you 185? mystery flying eagle cent works out. It must have been cool to find it in the dirt as a kid. That coin waited 100+ years for you to find it
The food cort was great. It is very upscale for a food court. They even had sushi. Then we didn't have to wait for the food or figure out the bill at the end. This is the way to go for our lunches.
