If it was done artifically they frosted the letters and the rays to. I thought the way to tell if it was artifical was that those would not be frosted. I think it might be orginal with a very bad haze problem. Looking at the close ups it is definatly one ugly coin on the reverse. I for one am not going to bid on it for a upgrade of my PR67DCAM.
Looks like a bunch of internal reflections between the coin and the inside of the slab. Not sure why it's just where it is. I don't see PCGS falling for artificial frost on a proof Kennedy half.

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!
I have a couple of them in proof sets directly from the mint. They look just like this. I can't explain why, but, it's still there. Hope this helps! Ray
