I see that coins with that pedigree will go higher at auction than those that are essentially equal, but without the pedigree. I wont ever pay extra for an "Omaha Bank Hoard" coin.
It was 2000+ gem original rolls of Washington quarters, Roosevelt Dimes, Franklin Halves, and Walking Liberty halves that were sealed up in a bank in Omaha. I think they were found in a forgotten vault when there was a rennovation. Someone bought everything and then sold it to Heritage who got them slabbed with the pedigree.
I have a few of the Franklins, but I didn't have to pay any premium for them.
"Lenin is certainly right. There is no subtler or more severe means of overturning the existing basis of society(destroy capitalism) than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose." John Marnard Keynes, The Economic Consequences of the Peace, 1920, page 235ff
I have purchased three pcgs lincolns from the "hoard" and all are graded correctly, on that basis I like them but would not pay a premium but might select it over another at the same grade sight unseen. Mark
I clicked on this thread because I had heard of some 100+ bags of Lincolns surfacing around Omaha. I wonder if those along with other circ stuff came from the same deal?
BTW, doesn't anyone look for something on "search" on a topic before asking about it? It's a pretty easy thing to do and you find tons of past topics about what your looking for. Try it, you'll like it.
Collecting coins, medals and currency featuring "The Sower"
No reason these should be worth more than ordinary coins. The coins themselves are very common and have no particularly interesting pedigree. I have done well on ebay with the Ted Binion dollars, but I list them as Las Vegas casino memorabilia items, not coins.
