Photo Help...Canon Powershot S1

ElKevvoElKevvo Posts: 4,141 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hi...

I tried this past weekend I tried taking some photos of coins with a Canon Powershot S1 and I really was not able to get the camera to focus on the coin for closeup shots...just a blur. Now I guess I could use those shots to sell some of the stuff on eBay "You grade the coin for yourself" image but really would just like to take better pics.

Does anyone have any experience with this camera type? I checked a bunch of the photo threads and none of them mentioned this camera...

Thanks!

Some caneras won't focus close unless in macro mode. I don't know abything about this particular camera.

Not with the cannon, but with a digital. They are so capable it's boggling. Just a matter of using it. You have factors that influence greatly: light, speed, and aperture. Play with the variables and don't get discouraged.
  • Depending on what power you had it on, I've got the S2 and if using the 12x then the 4x digital I have to be at least 4 or 5 feet away (even more depending), Even in macro mode it will only let you use the zoom so much and still focus properly. does the S1 have super macro? I've taken some really great shots on 48x as well as shots with the coin 1/4 away from the lens.
