Someone asked awhile ago whether anyone had ever seen an ANACS holdered coin graded MS70 or PR70 and I found this one that I'd meant to post when I was cleaning out my favorites menu today.
thanks for posting but I do not consider that a real coin that ever circulated.
it looks like a commem that was made during a special run. thus finding it in MS70, to me, is not very special. If it was a 1993 nickel, I would be much more interested to see it.
Salute the automobile: The greatest anti-pollution device in human history! (Just think of city streets clogged with a hundred thousand horses each generating 15 lbs of manure every day...)

actually, ANACS seems reluctant to grade anything very high, standard circulating coin or not. i posted it merely as an interesting surprise to me and whoever had made the inquiry. also, while i understand your point about it being a "non-circulating" coin, the same could be said for the overwhelming majority of all Classic Commemoratives struck. the ones we find in pristine condition never circulated and were actually never intended to circulate, the distibution just wasn't on par with what's available today. the ones that did circulate were placed in circulation primarily for two reasons; the mintage didn't sell out or the economic times dictated that the owners spend them. i feel secure in knowing that if economics dictated the spending of our current collections, it would be done, even Proof Platinum.
