Coin looks to be an AU-MS62 at best. I'm not sure if the variety is worth any premium to type. But as a type coin I'd say the buyer at $900 got at best his money's worth. More than likely he took a hit.
Careful Barry. There is a new "POS" grading service (Pull-one Over on you Suckers) out there (I'm sure) and they will probably sue you for comparing them to an already 3rd tier company (lol).
Was surfing ebay this morning and at first glance marvelled at how many gem coins were up for sale. Like a gem reeded edge half for example. Then I noticed the PNGS label. Now that's a hoot. Confusing at times.
coinspeculator: You are better off saving your money for something approximating this mint state 1834 dime. Allan Lovejoy used to own this coin and he was a REAL collector of dimes!
It's going to cost the bidder about $80 to return the coin. Did anyone notice the 5% restocking fee plus the $10 return fee tacked onto it? Also, the item will be shipped Registered Mail and must be returned by Registered Mail. This wouldn't have been worth the $80 gamble for me.
