Snowed Under in New York

orevilleoreville Posts: 12,160 ✭✭✭✭✭
We really are getting whacked with snow here in the Hudson Valley, NY. I have already heard of 20 car accidents near my house. Up to 14 inches expected by early afternoon.

No Baltimore show for me today.

Not so much snow here on Long Island yet, but my trip to Baltimore is on hold too.

Had to fly through Newark last week and just escaped. Lived in NJ for about ten years prior to NC. I empathize with the pain.

About 5 inches in Fairfield County, CT. I left for work really early, before all of the cowboys get on the roads and try to drive 80 MPH.

  • The snow what there was of it has now cleared the Washington, D.C. area and Baltimore should be absolutely no problem either today or tomorrow. Most of it turned to slush.
  • Still snowing in West Hudson county. Kids are all home from school.

  • Shoot, Chicago has been in a freeze and holding around 5-10 degrees for the last two weeks....windchill made it feel like 2 to 3 below zero.....it had to warm up here to snow.

This is just the beginning of a wonderful winter...I am sure we will experience much colder weather!!!

I'm looking out my office window (opposite Giants stadium) and route 3 west is at a standstill. It took me over an hour to get to work (normally 15 min).

    It's not ever winter yet!

I'm buried in CT. It's coming down at 2" per hour. That's why I call this the "funnel state" -- i.e. all the storms funnel out to the Atlantic ocean right through CT.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got about 25 inches of snow in two storms last week.

However, I am going to NYC on the 18th and by the looks of it, I will have plenty of snow to deal with.

1 inch on eastern Long Island and then rain. Now, sun!

School was open in the school district I work at. No delayed openings.

Other districts on the island closed for no appparent reason.

None yet here, in San Diego.

Sometimes I miss the snow (originially from Philadelphia and the greater Delaware Valley) but this all reminds me why I am glad not to have to live with it anymore. Good luck folks.

Yeah, the temperature is dropping here, too.

It just went from 61° down to 59°F. Brr. image

Yep, 8" at my house too - just got done blowing it off the driveway. The good news is that the temp is all the way up to 29 - a heat wave.

I can't wait until I retire in NC - that will be wonderful.

I was trying convince my little boy that it is possible to get cold enough to freeze water outside, but he did not believe me. He just went swimming in the back yard. It is in the mid-70's outside now.

We had a few tenths of an inch of rain a week ago. Sunny since in Sunnyvale CA.

Never seen snow here. Not much rain here either. I used to live in Oregon where you need webbed feet to survive. Don't miss it.image
