St. Q values are way off base

I went to Barnes and Nobles today to check out some prices in the 2006 red book. Well I happen to be looking through the 2006 Coin World value book and noticed they listed almost all of the 2005 ST. Q. at 1.00 in MS63... doesnt that seem a little high, especially for the 2005's? Maybe I'm way off base here but..My God! Maybe I should have looked at the 1999 Q.s to see how high they are.

Did you see the Leather-Bound Red Books? I was in Borders last week and saw one. It was about $69.95 or something like that. I saw no need to own it.

Probably find it in the bargain bin next year.

Well the leather bound is a "collector's" edition. It will sell for $69.95 and untouched it will double in value in ten years, more than likely. Funny, but everything is a collectible to somebody, somewhere. Though there may not be need for some of us who have the 2005 edition Red Book........but for a new collector, this book, even in paperback is an invaluable tool as a history and guide to U.S. Coin collecting. Also, the most recent population mintage reports are listed as well. You cannot obtain this information from an older Red Book.

Considering the price of a coin in MS63 at $1.00, I think it is fair to say that most of us will NEVER find an MS63 in circulation. AU-58 is the best you are going to get. Unless one buys a roll, one is not likely to get an MS63. I understand the logic in the listing. This is a guide and a suggested retail that one could expect to pay at the mall from a reputable dealer. (just my opinion)

Yep, it'll double in PRICE in the next ten years... But the buying power

of the dollar will be halved, thereby making it

An MS63 from a roll.... I think I pulled several MS67 & MS68s from Rolls in 2003.... The rolls cost me $10 each.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
