The surfaces almost look pourous to me, could be the photos though. If the surfaces are ok I'd say VG is accurate. Prices on these are very reasonable all the way up to the lower XF's. You might want to hold out until you find one with more detail and better photos so you can be sure of what you're getting. You're only looking at paying another $20-$30 for a much nicer coin. It won't take you long either to find one.
It does have that original undipped/ never cleaned look but the problem is the coin is as common as can be and there's no way to know what if it's really been messed with (as in the rim-letters being filed down) -- You can buy these all the time in group lots at coin auctions like Bowers-Merena Collector grouping for less money, plus you get to see the coins. Bustys are a lot of bang for the buck which this one shows--so get a nice EF/AU example and you'll be veryhappy IMHO.

Edited to add: I'm not an expert. Looks VG and original to me without seeing the reverse.

<< <i>Looks like he was trying to get to the reserve >>
Bingo, good call. I didn't even realize there was a reserve, huh...weird.
That said, raw coin on ebay, seller states....
<< <i>All Sales Final! >>
Which means a big pass as far as I'm concerned.
stman..............didn't even notice the "all sales final"

I'm surprised nobody else pointed it out.
Pass on coins like this 1829, and wait for at least an original XF. AU50 grade even better, and readily available in most dates from 1825-1836.

I would pass. You should be able to find a much nice, and equally original coin for not much more...Mike
