Exact Ties for the Grade

Have you ever had two coins in the same holder that you simply couldn't choose between? I have - once. The only time absolutely couldn't choose between two coins - two 1847 MS65 seated dollars. Each had their own superior attributes that in the end came down almost exactly balanced. Twas agony deciding which to keep for the set!

try to see which might be better I stick with the one in the set unless the new one
is clearly better. This means it has to be better in all categories or at least close to
it.
It can always be a tough decision trying to weight the various attributes of two very
different coins in the same grade.
It happened to me once. Two identical 1889 Seated Quarters, both in NGC Proof 66 CAM. Absolutely no difference between either coin. ( Both very black & white ). They were from different dealers, both arrived the same day, both on approval, and one was $500 more than the other.
Yeah, right. I kept the lesser priced one.
