Fightin' words from Mrs. Longacre-- the audacity to speak negatively about QDB in my presence
I was at home over the weekend quietly enjoying the new Investing in Rare Coins book by QDB. In a momentary lapse of reason, I turned to Mrs. Longacre and said, “look, here is my new coin book!” Knowing Mrs. Longacre’s lack of interest should have prevented me from continuing, but I then stated, “and look at this…he actually personalized the book to me and signed it. Occasionally I send him an email if I have a question about his books or to tell him how much I like them. And he always writes me back!”
To this, Mrs. Longacre responded, “I wish I had as much free time as you do to write emails to the author of the book you’re reading”, and then she said the following words, which were like hot pokers in my eyes, “and I can’t believe this QDB guy actually ANSWERS your emails. Doesn’t he have anything BETTER to do?”
I was about to defend QDB’s honor, but I decided against it. Mrs. Longacre is a seasoned veteran of the courtroom, and is quite adept at the thrust and parry of discussions. I, however, have the debating prowess of Porky Pig. So I just let the matter drop.

Longacre, I think you let the Mrs. off the hook far too easily. They teach us in law school that an attorney, while engaged in cross examination, should not ask a question he or she does not know the answer to.
In this case, while the answer to "Doesn’t he have anything BETTER to do" would seem to be crystal clear to many of us......hey, you never know.

<< <i>Ah, the first traces of holiday stress are building at Longacres Estates....good luck Mike, it will only get worse as we get deeper into the Yuletide season.

So true. I got chewed out for putting the lights on the Christmas tree in a manner which were not to Mrs. Longacre's liking. One battle per day for me is enough.

Longacre in the middle.
Ouch!
Don't even tell me you have 3 sons.
I am sure QDB has things to do, but he appreciates your writing to him enough to regards a reply in high priority.

And Longacre, you had best not mention how much time you spend here. She'll find something better for you to do.

What a super way to get out of doing the lights next year.........................
"But, you hated the way I did them last year, so you do them this year..............."
(Just think of city streets clogged with a hundred thousand horses each generating 15 lbs of manure every day...)
