Gotta move it to a lower angle when you get glare. Small lamps work better than big.

What helps is to move further away from the coin with the lens and zoom in. The further you are the more light can get in without getting in the way.
  • i tried rasiing the platform i was working with to bring it closer to the light. didnt do much good, made more of the 2x2 plastic glare. some of my coins are in 2x2. must be a way around this without having to take it out each time.

Rite Aid today had a nifty sale on these little lamps. $4.99. comes with a 18 Watt bulb that puts out the same energy as a 75 watt bulb. and with my 30% off it came to 3.70. ( plus the clearence bin took another 50% off came to about 1.50 with tax. couldnt pass it up. just gotta figit around with this till i learn the perfect angle and techique.

A piece of onion skin paper (Hobby, mechanical drawing supply) between the coin and the light source will diffuse the light. Don't put the paper on the bulb.
