Perhaps I shouldn't be, but I'm amazed that people would bid that type of money on uncertified coins, many of which have obviously been cleaned, with far from fully revealing images and no return privilege. Amazing!
Would have been better to march out the 10 key dates or so and show them close out. The key cc's, 85-s, 60-0 and others drive the set. One would have to have a lot of faith to bid strong on this as Coinguy1 stated. 197 coins? I'd have thought more like half the amount of the reserve or less. But pricing varieties is not a skill of mine nor would I pay much more than type for them. Others would not doubt pay more who specialize.
Just saw a half dime set complete with about 90 coins in that. It sold for $2200 or so. But of course no comparison in rarity. A half dime set is pretty completeable...not so the dime set.
How can there be a return priv on a set like that?
Thats exactlty why there is no return.
I did not expect the coins to sell..I am actually suprised the bidding got so high. The whole purpose of listing the entire set was to advertise them being listed on a individual basis.
The pictures were crappy... it was about 30 minutes of work.
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
Crazy. How do you ever go about putting a price on a set such as this if not in hand? Just a few of the coins could move the value a great deal. The first 49-0 makes me want to see it up close. I can't see folks bidding to these levels from those images.
There will be a 10 day return policy on those coins....and the pics will be better.
A return policy with that many coins dosent work for me..to many shady people could exchage a coin or 2 and send it back

You gotta be active in these to know what true market value is.
<< <i>so whats it worth? >>
It's worth what somebody will pay for 50 years or work?
Check out my current listings: https://ebay.com/sch/khunt/m.html?_ipg=200&_sop=12&_rdc=1
But with no return priv? Gerry is active in the market, but the pics suck and the collection is missing many keys..

Or 50 years of pleasure.

It would be too easy for some sleazebag (such as Dr. Sheldon) to substitute a bunch of coins then send it back.

Meow.
I agree, but how could you possibly bid 44K on a set like that with no return? Perhaps having seen the coins before?

I'm with you. I didn't bid on the set.
Hopefully, when he lists the coins individually, he takes the time to take some quality pics - not like the out of focus ones in this auction.
I wrote you about pics of the 72-s (which I am still waiting for btw...
My question is whether or not there will be a return priv on the individual coins?
