NEWP Bust Half

I picked this up at the Parsippany show today. Seemed like there was better looking material available this month with more of it. I cant remember what coc ky dealer I bought this coin from but the price was right! It was marked XF but looks AU all day long!image The coin shows evidence of a cleaning but even more interesting was the outline on the reverse of what appears to be the bust of the obverse. At first they
liiked like die lines, but the whle outline of the bust appearsa there. Any thought or comments appreciated. Thanks.imageimage

From the pictures, the parallel lines on the obverse are of concern.

so many of these early halves, especially ones with lots of detail, have been "shined up" by proud owners.

yours looks to be retoning but the lines on the obv field/bust are moderate

Nice AU details, nets strongish VF to maybe EF40.

edit: oh yes, the clash marks appear evident.. that's also why the letters LUR are weak, form being pressed against her ta tas

Too bad about the scrubbing, but that's otherwise a very nice looking coin, and clashmarks are cool on Bust halves.

I though LUR was weak from being struck opposit her ta tas... lots of volume to fill on the front!

ah, as I think about it, i guess that's right.

her boobies would be in negative on the die, not sticking out image

Die clashes are interesting. Too bad about the harsh cleaning. It looks like it was a nice AU before someone ruined it.

I truly don't enjoy telling you this, but your coin appears to be harshly cleaned and is something you should have run away from. There are enough somewhat original CBHs to choose from without having to resort to buying this type of stuff. This is the kind of coin that many collectors would not buy no matter what the realistic discount.

Not quite as bad as my belt sander, but close.

How long would you have to carry that in your

pocket to get it to look original wear?

I would not worry about the cleaning. It will bring down the value some but the only thing that matters is if you like it.Personaly I like it myself.

Harshly cleaned in my opinion, but all that matters is that you like it.
